Whistling can be the alternator bushes wearing out, or a failing belt on the engine. cold weather sound are more hearable as the damp air gets in to the parts on the belt or the alternator spray some wd40 in the alternator vents front and back of it, if sound go then that was the problem if not then the belt or the adjuster for the belt can be the problem. every year or so you should put some wd40 on parts in the engine helps to keep them water tight and stops damp getting in.

Whistling noise under slight acceleration

check for a cracked manifold or cracked flex section at the manifold
it is under load so it is not a vacuum leak as the vacuum is low under acceleration and high under deceleration or idle
indicates a gas leak or possible blockage from failed cat converter

High pitch nosie from rear end of 2004 ford f-150 supercrew

Does the sound change while accelerating or decelerating?? If it does i would suspect a carrier bearing or a pinion bearing going bad..If its consistant,,and doesnt change with acceleration or deceleration,,then it may be a axle bearing..

I have a 2003 f150 45ooo mile / noise from engine when tepature is below 10 degrees, high pitch whistle , i i let off the gas it stops.

Your alternator has to work harder in the cold weather.
I have heard many vehicles do the same thing.
Just to make sure, check the alt, but also a leaking vacuum line will make that kind of noise, check your lines make sure they are tight and not cracked or britle.

Whistle noise when starting cold car

its proberly what they call a secondary air intake pump - what this does is increase the air flow only on cold start up - the colder it is the longer it stays on - if the noise gets louder and you will notice - get it changed - we have the same problem over here on the vauxhall omega and corsa's - bless em got to be GM

Ford f150 2001 vibration in tranny od but only on load or when giving just a little throttle"if i give more throttle it acts great or if i turn off od it works great , why?

I had a very similar problem with my f150 lariat, and what solved the problem was: I took it to a mechanic and had the transmission fluid and filter changed.
