I cannot get my printer to print copies in black...what is causing this?

Do a "nozzle check". Are the black lines good, or are they mostly missing?
Run a head cleaning cycle. Do another nozzle check. Better?
You can do up to three cleaning cycles in a row, but beyond that it just wastes ink.
There are other techniques to un-clog Epson printers. Let me know here if you need more after trying the above.

It sounds to me that there is an actual leak from the printer when in use. You need to have it serviced.

2. selact all via CTRL+A key combination
3. copy selection CTRL+C

Black row are comeing for scanning

Hi,
its one of 2 possibilities

If you are getting black lines down the page, then you have a bad scanner assembly. It will be too costly to replace.

if you happen to be using a document feeder which i dont believe so, you might have some dirt in the scanner glass that needs cleaning.

thanks adi

THE FIRST TWO LINES OF A PRINTED DOCUMENT ARE PRINTING DOUBLE.

If your printouts contain misaligned vertical lines, you may need to align the print head. Make sure the EPSON Stylus CX3200 is turned on and not printing, and the Error light is off. Load plain, letter-size paper in the sheet feeder. Press a Menu button until you see Head Alignment, then press the Color Copy button to print an alignment page. On the test page, select the pattern with the two vertical lines most precisely printed on top of each other. You may need to use a magnifying glass or loupe. maint.6.7.1.jpg Select one pattern each for rows 1, 2, and 3. (In this example, pattern 8 is the best in each row.) Press the + or - button to select the number of the best pattern for the first row, then press the Color Copy button. Repeat this step for the second and third rows. Note: If you select a pattern other than 8 in any row, that pattern becomes pattern #8 the next time you align the print head. When you’re finished, press the Stop button.

I had a vertical line on my laptop screen

A line on a LCD screen (like a laptop) is caused by a faulty power connection in the screen.

Usually a entire row or column will not activate causing a black line to show. When you closed your laptop, the screen is powered down. When you opened it back up, the screen would be reinitialized and it appears that you lucked out on your issue.

When a row or column fails it is usually a permament failure that can only be fixed by a monitor technician or a screen replacement.

A similar failure can happen that causes black dots to show on the screen. These are burnt out junctions where the rows and columns meet together. The dot is commonly called a pixel.

Have a Dialta with a black line showing up and no visible marks on glass?

If the black line shows up when copying from the glass AND when using the document feeder then it is not the strip glass. Is it a fine line or a wider band like say 1/4 inch or larger? If it is larger then it is most likely the drum cleaning blade. You can verify it is a blade by running say 10 copies in a row. If the line gets worse as it runs copies it is the blade.
Of there is no line when using just the glass then it is something on the strip glass or scan glass.
