Samsung DLP TV- colors seem to mess up -Faces have green streaks

Our 2 year old Samsung HL-R4266W works fine for couple hours then does really wierd color shading. At first we have some green shading on the skin tones, then maybe bright gold or yellow coloring of whole picture. It does it playing DVD also. We can turn it off for 5-10 minutes and it will usally be OK for  a little while.

Whats the matter with it?

Sounds like you are haveing an issue with th color wheel timing. either the color wheel is bad or the dmd board is bad.only way to know is to have a technician look at it.

Replaced the color wheel on a Samsung DLP

Did you replace the color wheel yourself ? Sometimes you have to remove a small black jumper on the DM module on the light engine and that will remove the greenish but sometimes adjustments also need to be made in the service menu.

Yes, the Color Wheel would be the only thing left. I am not sure about this exact model but the Color Wheel in other Samsung models are replaceable.
Hope this helps,

Samsung DLP HL-R4266W..no sound or picture. TV is completely dead

Assuming the noise is a high-pitched whine, then yes, it is the color wheel.  If the color wheel goes out, the TV will turn on for a while, then turn off when it can't establish color wheel sync.  The color wheel has to be in sync with the mirrors on the DLP, so if sync can't be established, the TV turns off.
You can order a new color wheel from Sears or partstore.com (among other places) and replace it yourself, if you are so inclined.

Whining Noise and Image Problems

You better to check the color wheel or Lamp ballast.

Normally, the noise comes from color wheel.
