Also be sure you did not press the card in the wrong way around. Check the contacts on both the memory card and in the camera.
Check if the card is still working when placed in an external memory card reader, connected to the PC.

Look for the switch on the left side.
Before you put it in a camera it should be like the card on the left, the 64GB card. Switch up.

SOURCE: memory card lock

So you're having problem in your memory card?

Try this:
1. Take out your memory card from the camera.
2. There's switch to lock and unlock on the memory card.
3. Just unlock it, and put back your memory card.

Hope this help! PM me if you have another questions.

SOURCE: Tried to unlock Lexar SD 2GB and Lexar SDHC 4 GB - No luck

First of all, the 4GB card will never be able to work in your camera. Check on its face. It likely says SDHC, and SDHC cards as this format came out after your camera was designed (I know it looks exactly like a normal SD card, but it's not).

Now the 2GB card should work with your camera as it is a standard SD card. Remove the card from your camera. Look on the side of the card for the tiny slide switch, and slide it to the other "unlocked" position. Reinsert it in the camera, and see if that corrects the problem.

Memory card locked problem

You neglected to specify the make and model of your camera, so I'm assuming it uses SD/SDHC cards.

SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

How do i unlock my memory card its not allowing me to take photos.

I am assuming that your camera uses and SD card to store the pictures.
If you remove the memory card from the camera, you should see a little slider on the side of the card that says "lock," it is easy to accidentally lock SD cards.
I have attached a picture to show you what a locked SD card looks like.\:codyrt.jpg
Here is another image showing the card in the unlocked position: codyrt_0.jpg

New memorycard..still says ..locked..new batteries too..its a san disk card 2 gb this is a Canon A470 3.4 x yes older ...

Take the memory card out of your camera and look at it. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

I buy a memorycard sandisk 4 gb, i have a photocamera canon ixus digital 750. i insert memory card into my camera and than it show me : "errore memory card, scheda bloccata ". what must i do ? thank you

Hi
Make sure that the card is not write-protected (the little switch where it is written LOCK) and do not forget to format the card via the camera menu.
If you did everything as described and it has not helped change the SD card, it is likely damaged
