Print job stuck and can not be deleted

I have not been able to cancel/delete a print job.  It advised me that the printer would not be able to print outside the margins before I said OK. Now I can not delete that print job.  I have rebooted the computer and the printer.

I did find out how to get to the command prompt in Vista.  I cleared it and restarted the spool as instructed.  However, it did not clear up the problem.  It occurred again with another file.  I have unistalled the software and am reinstalling it.

  • skinut Jan 10, 2008

I have done the instructions. However, I can not seem to cancel the pending document.

    Please advise next steps

    Thanks

I need instructions for Vista please.

  • skinut Jan 31, 2008

When I type cmd in the the search box I do not see cmd appearing and thus am not able to right click and choose run as adminstrator. The last time this happened I gave up and unistalled and reinstalled the software for the 5610. This printer is the worst printer I have ever owned. This all happened tonight with an error message telling me halfway through a print job that the printer had the wrong cartridges. I simply need to know how to clear the spooler in Vista. Thanks

To clear stuck print jobs in Vista the procedure is nearly the same:-

Start Orb>Search box, type: cmd [enter]

When cmd appears above, right-click it and choose "run as Administrator".

At the cmd prompt that appears, do: net stop spooler [enter]

Now you can cancel your print job and then restart the spooler: net start spooler [enter]

Ok, now I am actually running Vista and I tried my own instructions which don't seem to work!

    Try this instead.

    Click the Orb

    Click All Programs

    Click Accesories

    RIGHT click command prompt

    Click run as Administrator

Click Continue if the User Account Control pops up

now you should get the cmd prompt as admin

    Type net stop spooler[enter]

Goto the print queue (control panel > printers) or the icon next to the clock, bottom right. right click, open printers folder.

Delete the documents in the queue

Back to the open cmd prompt,

    Type net start spooler[enter]

    Does that clear it?

My power went out during a printing job and now the printing job is stuck and I can not print it or delete it.

GO TO THE PRINTER DIALOG BUTTON, START MENU - SETTINGS - PRINTER, AND FIND THE PRINTER THAT IS HUNG AND RIGHT CLICK ON IT. CLICK ON OPEN WHICH WILL OPEN A BOX WITH ALL THE PRINT JOBS LISTED FOR THAT PRINTER. IF THERE IS MORE THAN ONE PRINT JOB START AT THE BOTTOM AND DELETE THEM ONE AT A TIME. RIGHT MOUSE CLICK AND SELECT CANCEL. THE TOP JOB IS THE ONE THAT IS HUNG BUT THE PRINTER WILL HANG ON ANY UPCOMING JOB ONCE THE HUNG OPERATION IS CLEARED. IF THE PRINTER WILL NOT CANCEL THE PENDING JOB YOU MAY NEED TO REBOOT THE COMPUTER. WHEN THE COMPUTER COMES BACK UP IT MAY PRINT THE HUNG JOB OR JUST DELETE IT - NEVER KNOW

if you have a print job stuck go in and hit cancel job. If it stays even after a few min right click "my computer" on your desktop and hit "manage" go to "services and applications" click "services" find the print spooler option and right click it and stop the service. Once stoped right click it again and start it. This should clear anything stuck in print queue trying to delete

Not printing and nothing is paused or on the print list.

First of all you must let canceled print jobs finish deleting before sending new jobs, if the job is taking too long try restarting the computer with the printer on to clear the jobs this usually works if not then after restart open the printers folder and cancel all jobs here. let them finish deleting while the printer is still on (they must remain in communication during deleting jobs. Once all jobs are gone, remove the power brick from the printer for about a minute then reinsert and let the printer start up if it doesn't after a minute or so just turn it on once it finishes then try printing again.
