Sounds like your operating system is corrupt. Do you have any of your cd's that came with the computer?

Reset the defaults in the BIOS and see if that helps.

I had this problem.... It was looking at all hard drive options.... All were set to auto in bios setup... When I turned to off choice except for the one hard drive it found, the F1 and F2 options went away.

Heloo sir i have a problem with my dell 170l when i start it it shows ''strike F1 to continue, F2 to run the setup utility'' when i click f1 it show ''f1 to retry boot,f2 for setup utility'' plz help me...

Hit F2,look in setup to see if the hard drive is recognized and check that the date and time are correct.
Then hit esc key. it will ask if you want to save changes, click yes. It should boot and probably ask you to hit F1 or F2 again., unless there is a problem with the CMOS battery, which may need to be replaced.
If you hit F1 to continue, it will boot, but your time and date will be off.

Hi, When I try to start my Dimemsion 5150C in Windows XP computer, I received one of the following error messages "Floppy diskette seek failure Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the setup...

The "floppy" disk-drive (3.5-inch diskette) on your computer is broken.
Press F1 to ignore the error, and to boot from your C: drive.
Or, press F2 to enter BIOS SETUP, and then navigate through those "setup" screens to tell the computer to "disable floppy seek", or change the setting from "3.5 1.44Mb drive" to "none".
Or, take the computer to a technician, and buy a replacement disk-drive, and get it installed.

Hi, you will need to perform a windows restore using your windows CD. Insert CD in drive and select the appropriate option. You will not loose any of your work doing this.

Strike F1 to continue, F2 to run the setup utility

Got to BIOS by pressing F2,check or any floppy setting and disable it even in boot order setup. This will solve your problem otherwise replace the lithium CMOS battery.

As you have reset the BIOS setting to it's default setting.Floppy drive is enable by default whether your system have a physical floppy drive or not.

Dimension 3100 Won't Boot

Make sure your HD Cables are all firmly plugged in, and that all drives are starting when you turn on the computer. You can tell with harddrives as they will slightly whine, and have a small, steady vibration to them. If they are all starting, and all cables are fully seated, check in your Setup utility that the drives themselves are Auto-Detect. If none of this fixes your issue, you may have to refer your computer to a computer repair shop.

Hope this helps!
