Printer reset re Brother HL 1230

I have a brother hl 1230 and we had a power falure the other night (power went off and then came back on again at low power) now all the lights are flashing.  This happened once before and I was told how to reset it, but I didn't write it down - help.

Resetting the printer should clear the flashing leds (flashing lights.)

How to Perform A Factory Reset:
1. Turn the printer off.

2. Hold in the circular button on the front panel of the printer.

3. Turn the printer back on.

4. When the DRUM light is lit by itself let go of the button. Hold in
the circular button on the front panel again. Once the Alarm light comes
on, let go of the button. This has performed a factory reset on the printer.

If the alarm continues, the printer may need service.

You need to download the driver for the HL-1430 printer for your HL 1030 model which can be found here:

http://www.brother.com/E-ftp/windowsvista/europe.html#1230

this link provides information for Vista PCs - additional information can be obtained from the Brother website http://www.brother-usa.com/ if required.

Once downloaded you will need to install the printer using the "Add a printer" wizard which can be found in the Control Panel (under printers).

How do i fix an engine interface error on my brother 1230 printer
Printer rules for reset and troubleshooting hold the power button for 15 sec. for a system reset. Try to remove each panel that opens and check for broken pieces of paper Recycle the system by reinstalling the software once again. If you getting error codes then follow this We need to clear out these error codes stored in your printer NVRAM or memory! Shut down the printer and pc associated with it. Remove data cable and reinstall the software for this printer, press and hold the power button on the printer for 15 seconds, then reconnect the printer after software installation is successful. This process will clear the error codes that you keep receiving.

Driver compatible with HL 1240?
Not according the Brother. If you have an HL1230 download and install the HL1430 driver.

I did a front feed on my Brother HL-1230 printer and now the cheque is jammed in the printer. How do I get to the drum to remove the cheque?
Open the front of the printer via the 2 tabs on the sides of the front door. Lift the toner/drum assembly out of the printer. You should be able to see the paper in the unit. Carefully pull the paper out of the unit. You may want to run a few pages through the printer to pick up any residual toner before printing another document.
