The Carrier Infinity has a control board that will flash out a pattern giving you a hint of what could be wrong. To find it, remove the cover off of the furnace and you will see a small round clear window. Look and count the blinks. Then compare that number to the diagnostic chart found on the back of the furnace access cover.

Let us know what the pattern is and we can help you more.

The diagnostic codes are found by counting the number of blinks of the amber light viewed through the little clear viewing port located on the bottom section of the furnace after the main access panel has been removed. The light will either flash slowly but constantly, flash rapidly and constantly or blink once or twice followed by a pause then again for a number of times than another pause. These last blinks are Status Codes and will be required to diagnose your furnace. For example, the light blinks twice than a pause then 5 more times. this is a Status Code of 25.

If you can get this plus the model number of the furnace, which is located on, the left side of the furnace inside the cabinet after the main access door has been removed. It may be something like 58MVB060-F-1-20 or like that. We will be able to give you more direction.

Carrier troubleshooting furnace

If the thermostat isn't selected for "FAN" then the relay is stuck. In heat mode the thermostat opens the gas valve and starts the igniter and the induction motor. If the induction fan isn't running, the flame will stop.

My heater flame ignites but when blower starts the flame shuts off does any one know whats the problem

Sounds like a bad heat exchanger. The flame could be coming out, and throwing the Flame roll out limit switch. Could just be limit switches.

Carrier Furnace infinity 96.model 58MVP060-F-18114. Furnace heats

Sounds like it could be your fan limit switch. Part costs about 20 bucks and is fairly simple to replace. This limit switch is a safety that prevents your furnace from over heating. Usually when your t/s is satisfied the blower runs for a little longer after the burners have stopped, and the reason for that is the limit switch. The blower is supposed to cool this limit switch to a certain temp. and once it reaches this temp it shuts the blower off. Yours is stuck:(

Flames will not start even though igniter glows

i am not very familiar with this particular model but something must tell the gas valve to open.there must be a thermocouple or optical scanner that creates a signal to open the gas valve. if there is a signal to the gas valve then the gaas valve will need to be replaced

Furnace sometimes will not stay lit

Check the heat exchanger for a crack or hole. The room air blower is blowing back into the heat exchanger extinguishing the flame. Have it checked out today. Did you get it checked yet? Now. Have I stressed to you to get it checked out yet or have you been overcome by Carbon Monoxide yet?
