2002grand am dash lights and brake lights not workin at night

Stated getting the service vehicle soon list, which according to my manual means something is wrong with the daytime running lights or turn signals. Turn signals are fine, daytime running lights are not working and last night noticed headlights are not working even when turning them on manually. What could cause this? And if it's the relay how do I replace it? well i changed my stereo in my 2000 grand am an must have shorted somthin out because now when i drive at night none of my dash lights come on i cant see how fast i go or nothin at also my break lights only come on at night if i press on the brakes can anyone help me on this please n thanks

is this light yellow in color? are u sure it is not "service engine soon"

Check the second fuse panel in the engine compartment for the park lights fuse.

service engine soon ??? This has to do with the vehicles emissions When this light comes on it means your vehicle is polluting 1 & 1/2 times greater then the EPA allows . DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes are stored in the engine computer . The light is a warning to the driver to take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop.

What could be the problem of dash board light not showing at all

a 2002 Accord. (USA?) dash does vary by COUNTRY.@!!
what light there are like 20 lights. which one, or ones.?
basically there are 2 types
parking lamp (dimmer controlled to see at night the dash)
and idiot lamps.
examples, CEL, brake, charge, oil, seatbelts. etc.
which one.(all) if ALL , the fuse is blown. (battery dead, or worse) ask.

open glovebox, see opratars guide, see dash lamps. see names.
lost? ,get one.

does engine run, and car move?

Yes it may be the wires are shorting or its actually the problem with instrument cluster.
Also get the vehicle scanned for any error codes stored in computer this will confirm whether is short circuit issue or actual problem:------

There is a symbol that lights up on my dash in between the mileage and the gear readouts it looks like a tranie or a motor, but i do not have a manual for my car and so do not know what the symbol means

orange would mean service engine, like the old orange colored service engine soon lights that are computer or emissions related. red would mean oil or engine problem. it's probably a motor symbol so we can dismiss ABS or other red brake light.

Brake lamp light on a 2002 Honda Accord SE

I assume you mean the one on the dash. This is an indicator that there is a problem in your braking system. Make sure it's not low on Brake fluid and have the brake system checked or check it yourself. If your going to check it yourself I recommend the Haynes repair manual on your vehicle as a reference.

There is a light on my dash it is a ! with a bunch of lines all around it. what is that light for?

According to the 2003 Ford TaurusOwners Manual:

"Brake system warning light: To confirm the brake system warning light is functional, it will
momentarily illuminate when the ignition is turned to the ON position when the engine is not running, or in a position between ON and START,
or by applying the parking brake when the ignition is turned to the ON position. If the brake system warning light does not illuminate at this
time, seek service immediately from your dealership. Illumination after releasing the parking brake indicates low brake fluid level and the brake
system should be inspected immediately by your servicing dealership."

In short, as your brake linings (pads and shoes) wear out, the brake fluid level in the reservoir goes down.

You're probably right at the point where the level gets low enough to turn on the warning only under specific circumstances (cornering? hard braking?).

You can top off the fluid for the short term, but you should have your brakes inspected fairly soon.

Why my Check Engine/Service/Check Engines Soon light comes on?
The engine computer or PCM/ECM
All modern vehicles have a computer or the ECM (Electronic Control Module) that controls the operation of the vehicle powertrain (the engine and transmission). The main purpose of this is to keep the engine running at top efficiency with the lowest possible emissions. With constantly growing demands for better fuel economy and new strictest emission regulations it's not very easy to achieve. The engine parameters need to be constantly and precisely adjusted according to various conditions such as speed, load, engine temperature, gasoline quality, ambient air temperature, road conditions, etc. That's why today's cars have much more electronics than in early days - there is a large number of various sensors and other electronic devices that help the vehicle computer or ECM to precisely control the engine and transmission operation and monitor emissions.
The vehicle computer system has self-testing capability. When the computer senses that there is a problem with some of the components it stores the correspondent trouble code(s) in its memory and lights up the "Check Engine" or "Service Engine Soon" light to tell you that there is a problem and your car needs to be looked at. To properly diagnose what is wrong, you need to take your car to a mechanic or a dealer. The technician at the dealership or a garage will then hook up the scanner to the car computer and retrieve the stored trouble code(s). Then he (she) will look it up in the service manual provided by a car manufacturer. The service manual contains the list of possible codes (about few hundreds) and describes what each code means and what needs to be tested. The code itself doesn't tell exactly what component is defective - it only indicates where to look, what engine parameter is out of normal range. The technician will have to perform further testing to pinpoint a defective part. and u can drive the car.

2002grand am daytime running lights

99 - 04 grand am.

I had the "service vehicle soon" light come twice with in 1 year. First the heald light bulbs were gone. Replaced the head light bulbs and after 2 starts the "service vehicle soon" light was gone.

The second time the DRL - #194 amber bulbs were gone. Replaced these and the "service vehicle soon" light was gone after 2 starts. The DRLs are housed in the headlamp housing, the tiny bulbs beside the head light.
