I've seen this happen with power saving turned on. Look for your USB device having the setting enabled in device manager

Testimonial: "I looked into the manager but I found no properties that I could, change. The tabs at the top were as followed: general, driver, details. So my question: How do I turn off power saving?"

SOURCE: Why do I have to unplug and replug the USB every startup?

Because you have to set Digital Driver Signing to OFF EVERY-TIME you Boot your PC this is because the drivers are NOT "Official" Windows certified Drivers. You need to press F8 EVERY-TIME you boot your PC and go to the bottom of the list and select to turn OFF Digital Driver Signing before ANY drivers will work, if they are NOT certified.

SOURCE: I have a Gateway keyboard model number KU-0833. I

Hi lal1220,

I had the exact same problem with my keyboard (KU-0883). What you want to do is first go into your "Control Panel". From there under "Hardware and Sound", go to "View Devices and Printers". Right Click on your USB Keyboard and go to "Region and Language". Under the "Keyboard and Languages" tab click on "Change Keyboard". From the "General" Tab click on "Add". Scroll down to "English (Canada)" and expand it by hitting +. Uncheck "Canadian French" and "Canadian Multilingual Standard". Then press "OK". After which you press "Apply" and "OK". Give your computer a quick reboot and your good to go.

I have a Dell wireless keyboard with a Calculator-specific function key. It is no longer working after I had some repair work to remove a vicious virus. How can I restore the calculator key?

Try this. Go to the Start menu by clicking Start (Windows XP) or clicking the Windows icon in the bottom left of your screen (Windows 7). In the start menu, click Control Panel.
Inside the Control Panel, double click Device Manager.
Once you are in the Device Manager window, click the Plus symbol next to where it says Universal Serial Bus Devices. In the list of things that comes up, you should see one that says USB Keyboard or Wireless Keyboard, or something to that effect. Right click on that, then click Uninstall.
A new window will pop up. In that window, click Next 2 times. Then, click Finish.
Now, unplug the USB wireless receiver. Wait a few seconds, then plug the USB wireless receiver back in. When you plug it back in, it will act like it is the first time it is plugged in, and will reset all your settings. Give it a minute or two.
Hopefully, you can press the Calculator button and it should work. Hope this helps.
Thanks for using FixYa.

Cannot get the backslash key to work - only gives less than/greater than. Model is KU-0760 with an Acer Aspire AX1800-E1502

Make sure the keyboard layout is set correctly. I'm going to assume you have Windows Vista or 7.

Click on Start > Control Panel > Change Keyboards or other input methods (Under Clock, Language and Region) > Change Keyboards.
Now under "Keyboard", make sure the initials for your Country is there. If it isn't, click Add, find your country, tick the appropriate box & click OK. Or if your Keyboard or Mouse combo comes with drivers, install it to get the full functionality out of them.
