There should be a factory image on the HD when you try restarting it. Hold down the F8 key or F10 key while its rebooting this should start the recovery process you shouldnt need a windows disk.

SOURCE: How I can get recovery disc for my laptop Sony

You probably need a recovery disk because you dont have the necessary drivers and the software that came pre-installed on your laptop. but instead of worrying about that, why not just get any operating system disk of your choice, install it, download the drivers for your laptop online and install them too, and interestingly you can also keep all the drivers you downloaded with the OS Disk incase of future necessity for your laptop repairs.
In case your decide to do this, the link to download the drivers for your laptop is :

Happy Installation!...lol

SOURCE: i have no system recovery disc but i want to factory setting

Hi,

Providing the laptop was built after 2005 then there should be a recovery partition on the laptop.

Turn the laptop on and repeatedly press the F10 key, this should get you into the recovery partition and allow you to factory restore the laptop.

Regards.

How to install Recovery disc on your laptop/computer

Formally, when you purchase a laptop or desktop computer, an operating system disc comes with it. But these days, such disc does not come with most laptop or desktop computer because it is already installed in them which is called recovery disk. This has a great advantage, because if it was on a disc, it will have a scratch and it cannot last forever because it might get lost or damaged. So, having it already installed on your laptop or desktop computer by your computer's manufacturer is a very good idea.

Most people are not aware that this recovery disc is on their laptop or desktop computer. And some might know, but don't know how to use or install it.

A Recovery disk is used to repair windows operating system when it has a virus or when operating system is malfunction. Reinstalling windows with recovery disks helps to recover your computer from any damage.

First, you need to confirm whether your laptop or desktop computer has a recovery disk on it or not. To confirm, click Start Menu, scroll to "My Computer" and click on it. Beside your system's "Local disk (C:)" you should find "RECOVERY (E:)" Click on the recovery disc and you should find a golden padlock with "RECOVERY" in front of this. Also confirm the and make sure it's is a minimum of 6GB.

Now, to install/run your system's recovery disk, go to;"Start menu" > "All Programs" > "Backup & Recovery" > "Recovery Manager". Read and follow instructions and you will definitely perform the recovery successfully.

Lastly, make sure you perform the recovery white your laptop adapter plugged to AC and do not run the recovery on battery. There must not be interruption of any kind in the process of the installation.

Good luck.

Your Recovery partition got corrupted after you installed XP. What you can do is to call their support number its 1 877 737 1082 to request a copy of recovery disc. it will cost you $39 plus the support to help load the OS / drivers/software for Lenovo.

My VGN-CR410E laptop looking for installation disc. I failed to make recovery disc? What should I do?

From the information provided, I understand that you are not able to create Recovery Disc from Recovery Center. You can launch Recovery Center by using F10 key. For this, restart the Computer keep pressing the F10 keey when the VAIO logo appears. If you are still not able to enter into the Recovery center, it is required to purchase Recovery disc from Sony.
Please go to the link below for purchasing recovery disc from Sony.

Tried to do a recovery on my compaq the first

If you did not install a new drive and you are just trying to reinstall windows you may still ba able to do this by using the F10 F11 or F12 key during startup depending on the model. This is if you have a Vista or Newer XP machine. This should give you the choice of reinstalling windows from the secondary partition.
If this is a new drive, try installing with only one stick of ram if you have more than one stick. You may be having a problem with ram.
Hope this helps...
