Protect on any reciever usually means that it has reached its maximum capacity of volume (known as clipping) and at the reciever is now automatically reducing the volume to avoid damage. This some times is triggered if the reciever was used hard and is now damaged so you would need to bring it to a repair shop. Sometimes its caused by a bad wire to the speakers, a short to say. Check all your wiring, make sure its not overheating and getting plenty of air. Some where its recieving a signal telling it to go into protect mode.

My onkyo HT RC330 will not power up at all. Have had problems past couple of months with starting it but if you played around with swith it would start. Now nothing.

Try resetting the AV receiver To reset the AV receiver to its factory defaults, turn it on and, while holding down VCR/DVR, press 8 ON/STANDBY. "Clear" will appear on the display and the AV receiver will enter Standby mode.

It is possible that the protection circuitry has been activated. Remove the power cord from the wall.. Disconnect all speaker cables and input sources, and then leave the AV receiver with its power cord disconnected for 1 hour. After that, reconnect only the power cord and set the volume to maximum. If the AV receiver stays on, set then the volume to minimum, disconnect the power cord, and reconnect your speakers and input sources. If the AV receiver turns off when you set the volume to maximum, disconnect the power cord, and contact your dealer.

If the standby light is lit it and the unit will not boot it is most likely that the protection circuit has been activated. If there is no standby light then check the fuses. These units check that the power supplies are operating near specification. If a capacitor or resistor in the circuit, or a broken solder connection the unit will shut down. Because of the temperature the thermal cycling around the power supplies a broken solder joint can occur. This will make for an intermittent operation.

Hope this helps.

Why is protect is flashing on display

There is a defect that is causing the light to come on. It could be a bad output transistor or some other defect that produces excessive heat. The cooling fan could be at fault too.

Can I connect an active speaker to the Teac AG d7900 output

http://produto.mercadolivre.com.br/MLB-184407791-av-digital-home-theater-receiver-teac-ag-d7900-_JM

It would have helped to know something morwe about the 'active' speaker.I imagine its manual would tell you what it needs for input.

Active speakers are usually designed to be driven by volume-controlled Line Level inputs. This receiver has none except for the Subwoofer PRE Output.

HW-C560S AV Receiver message display PROTECTION. I unplugged and plugged back in and still PROTECTION message. Is it time to take to shop? I know nothing about electronics.

Your set is in trouble my dear friend.
Protection will appear because the processor sense that you have a faulty parts on your unit.
To avoid further damaged, your system shut it off automatically.
The main reason is your Power amplifier I.C., it is shorted, need a replacement.
I"ve strongly adviced you to look for a qualified technician or electronic shop to fix your problem.
Good day!

Try this, but you'll lose any presets and setups.

To reset the AV receiver to its factory defaults, turn
it on and, while holding down the [VIDEO 1] button,
press the [STANDBY/ON] button. “Clear” will
appear on the display and the AV receiver will enter
