Panasonic TV-VCR Combo Problem With Separate VHS Player

I have owned the Panasonic PVQ-M2508 25 in. Combo now for almost 11 years. It has worked well until recently when the VHS player reached the end of its life and stopped working. Being that I previously owned 2 Panasonic VHS players that averaged 10 years of use each, I ordered a refurbished Panasonic VHS player. The problem I'm having now is that both the TV remote and the new VHS remote activate both the TV and the VHS player at virtually the same time and are interchangable. I press ON and both the TV and the VHS player come on. I press ACTION and it goes through the TV actions and then the VHS player actions screen comes up and I am caught in a loop. The only way to get out of it is to manually turn off either the TV or the VHS player. The same is true when trying to adjust color, tint, etc. Is there any way to solve this problem, short of buying another non-Panasonic TV? The old TV itself still works well and is probably worth no more than $25 at this point. Thanks to anyone who is familiar with this problem and has a workaround.

SOURCE: DTV remote code

KZXten,

Don't know if this will help but I have Comcast as my cable TV provider and am using a Motorola DCT-6200 STB and the remote Comcast provides with the STB. To get my Panasonic TV/VCR combo (PVQ-2510A) to work with the Comcast remote I had to do the following:

1) Do the remote code search in AUX mode (or VCR or DVD mode if your remote has that button instead) using the instructions for searching ing remote codes. I had to toggle back and forth between AUX and POWER on the remote until the TV turned off. I saved that code on the remote, but it only controlled the power on the TV, not the volume control.

2) Next I did the remote code search using the TV button on the remote and toggled between the TV button and the volume control until the volume +/- bar appeared on the screen. I saved that code too.

I use the AUX button to turn the TV on and off. Once the TV is on the volume control on the remote operates the TV volume normally. I still need to toggle between CABLE and AUX depending on which device I'm controlling, the cable Set Top Box (STB) or the TV. You may have to experiment some to get it to work correctly.

Here's a link to the remotes Comcast is providing in my area.

SOURCE: Codes to program my Conect it universal remote to both my Insigna TV & my Panasonic DVD player...please help

Set-up (Programming) procedure is too much to type in here, and is not practical and it will differ brand-to-brand remote controls. If you wish to get more; check the sites linked here. The site has set-up code list & set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. The site has general set-up codes to check with TVs and other devices are given, in the order of the 'device's brand name list' in alphabetical order. Set-up code list to many brand remote controls also is given. Pull up older posts. Search the sites by type in the brand name to your device in its search box at the top right part of the display window. It will help you to find the document easily....

I am looking for the direct tv remote code for tv model PVQ-M2509 Panasonic Omnivision VHS como.

Hello

Four digit universal remote code for Panasonic TV-VCR combo are:-

0374 0381

Three digit universal remote code for Panasonic are:-

003/ 054/ 055/ 062/ 070/ 148/ 149/ 170/ 171

Direct Code Entry
  1. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button.
  2. Press and release the desired Mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
  3. Enter the 4 digit code from the code tables. Note: after a valid code entry, the red indicator turns off. For an invalid code, the red indicator flashes.
  4. With your device on, press CHANNEL UP. If the device responds, no further programming is required. Note: If some buttons do not operate your device, try one of the other codes for your brand.
Code Search If after trying "Direct Code Entry" your device does not respond, or if your brand is not listed, try doing a search of the code library for your code by following these steps.
  1. Manually turn on the device (TV, VCR, etc.) to be controlled.
  2. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button.
  3. Press and release the desired Mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks once, then stays on.
  4. Press the CHANNEL UP button repeatedly (up to 300 times) until the device to be controlled changes channel. The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
  5. Press and release MUTE to install the code. The indicator light goes off.
Most users will want to store VCR codes under the VCR button, Cable codes under CBL, etc. If you want to store a VCR code under CBL, etc., first follow the procedure for Direct Code Entry and press CBL in step 2 of Direct Code Entry, then enter ANY VCR code in step 3 of Direct Code Entry. Then follow the steps above for Code Search.

DVD Player doesn't work on DRC6355N VCR/DVD Combo

With most dvd/vcr combo units there is separate wiring. When I use my emerson combo unit I have it wired that I have to be on different inputs on my tv to view a dvd and a vhs. On some units the vcr portion is wired via a regular cable line, while the dvd portion is wired with the yellow, red, and white component cable. Try inserting a dvd and scrolling through your tv inputs until you find the picture or check your wiring to ensure nothing has come loose. If that has no result you could try wiring it differently if possible to eliminate that as a possibility.

PVQ-2510 service menu

If you fix the vertical cirrcuit correctly, there is no need to go into service menu as your vertical should go back to normal. Re-check your work. I remember one cap on this set that gets overlooked all the time so you may want to check it. It is cap C413 - ceramic cap and sometimes it shorts causing a vertical shrinking as you described. Good luck.
