My kenwood deck isn't working. Well everything else works, except for the display on its regular position. When I press the eject button so that the motorized faceplate is horizontal, the display seems to work. When its back in its regular vertical position, theres nothing on the screen. Everything else works okay, its just the display. Anyone have any answers for this? I had this same problem about 4 years ago and it cost me $140.00... Now my display light for the buttons don't work, so at night I can't see anything... I refuse to more money into this radio. For what it would cost to repair, I can buy a new one with better options...
With the amount of use in four years I will say you definatly got your moneies worth from it. From the way it sounds, there is a small paper thin ribbon cable that connects from the main body of the radio to the head unit itself. With the amount of times this thing has been used the ribbon cable sounds like it has finally gone bad. The best way for me to have you demonstrate this is to take a piece of paper and with a razor cut a **** in the middle of it and then folt the paper in the same direction as the ****. When the cable is flat the wires in the cable make connection and when the cable is bent there is no connection to certain areas of the cable.
