Question about Mitsubishi VS-45607 45" Rear Projection Television
SOURCE: vs 4561 weak picture
Good Day, Techwanab;
Look for this to be your problem: CHECK FOR OPEN L2C50 PART #325C146030 ON THE SIGNAL PCB, OR BAD CONNECTIONS AND LEAKY CAPS IN THAT AREA.
Hope this was helpful and not too late.
Good Luck, big IRISH.

SOURCE: picture getting dark on my 70" mitsubishi projection
I FINALLY got the problem fixed!!! Gee I feel stupid. I called a great local TV repair guy and he came out and fixed it for next to nothing. The stupid part is that all he had to do was take apart the TV's front fascia and clean the mirrors and things inside....it was FILTHY!!! Then the TV was like new again. It looks so good I wanted to kiss him. He advised that you really should be cleaning that about once a year or so to prevent this problem. Also, I live in Nevada with HIGH dust so that doesn't help either.

SOURCE: Mitsubishi WD-62527. Dark picture.
That unit is a two mirror set. Meaning the light engine lens shines down onto a small mirror and that is reflected onto a large mirror and then onto the screen. Gravity being what it is dust and other contaminants cover the lower mirror. Moving the set would only aggrevate dust settling on it. To fix the problem the screen must be removed and the mirror cleaned. You won't believe the difference. It will be like watching a new tv.

the problem is likely the projection lamp .. you can replace that yourself if you are handy .. you must unplug the set and make sure everything is cool ...avoid getting finger prints on the new lamp ...here are a few places where you can get a new lamp ... you can also see what it looks like on this site ...
http://www.bluestar-online.com/Mitsubishi_Model_WD_65731_Replacement_DLP_Lamp_p/wd-65731.htm?gclid=CLb9k4zf-6ACFdk55QodwT3dxw
the lamp is likely in a cubby in the back of the set (where you used to see the bright light) ...
the lamp is mounted in a cage ... you can get the lamp already mounted in a new cage from here ...
http://purelandsupply.com/WD65731-Mitsubishi-DLP-TV-Bulbs.html
......it costs more mounted but its easier to change and you will need a new cage if yours is damaged .. from the site above you can see what the cage looks like with the lamp already mounted ..
your lamp is a model 915p049010 ... that is available thru amazon at a good price here:.(includes cage)........

SOURCE: Picture is very dark
its probably the lamp going bad. dark picture is a pre-cursor to failure. these lamps are supposed to last 2-4 years but for some reason the mitsubishi ones never do. you can replace the lamp yourself, and if it is going bad, you can cool it down, pull it out, and you will see it will look kind of bulged or white in the bulb part. instructions are in your user manual. if it is under a year old, mitsubishi should still cover it. if its just over a year, you can try to call them and complain and maybe they'll back it up. let me know if you need further assistance.
