SOURCE: DVD PLAYS CD'S BUT WONT PLAY DVD'S

Aquarius0128 there are two things to consider here.. dvd's recorded on a computer need to be closed/finalized after you have recorded onto them in order to be used on a stand alone player.. they will play ok on original recorder because of the design of these machines finalizing prepares the structure of the disc so it can be recognised by other players as a dvd video disc.. you will usually see a 'finalize disc' option in your recording program

Second issue is this.. even if finalized an older (or even some modern) stand alone players will not recognise a recorded disc made on a computer or even if it can there are different formats DVD+R DVD-R and even DVD-RAM and DVD-RW (the two latter ones are rarely recognised outside a computer)

SOURCE: Have a Sansui VCR/DVD player/recorder.

Google the term "Sansui/the model number/manual." A lot of hits will come back, likely a number will have a free downloadable copy of the owners manual.

SOURCE: My DVD recorder will not recognize any of the DVDs

yes, that is the solution... try to get the DVD that is 4x (Maxell, Dynex) most are all up to 16x now... unless you can find a firmware update for Sansui (I tried already for you, but you can with out a doubt try too)

Can the sansui vcr/dvd combo record vcr tapes to a dvd?

No, the DVD section only plays DVDs, to record VCR tapes to DVD you need a ripping device that digitalize audio and video (convert step) and then transfer to DVD specifications this data to disk (record step). The easiest way to do this is using a USB video capture adapter connected to your PC with a DVD recorder drive installed, the software to do this commonly comes as a bonus in the setup disk of the adapter.

Cannot format a dvd-rw disc or record to the disc.

Unless you posted this question in the wrong category, you can't use the Sansui VRDVD4000 to record to DVD. It is a DVD player only, not a DVD burner. It will play and record VHS tapes, but with DVDs it will only play them.

To record to a DVD, you would need a DVD burner. Many modern computers include a DVD burner, so maybe either your computer or someone you know's computer has a DVD burner.

Only dvd plays properly but vhs will not show picture.

Most likely you have the dvd part connected through component or svideo cables. Despite the fact that this is one unit, like other vcr/dvd combo units it acts as two separate units in the same box. The vcr will probably not play through those cables. As you have audio coming through I'd imagine that the audio is connected using red and white composite cable. Connect the video on the vcr side with composite yellow cable or run direct to tv with a coaxial cable.

I have a SANSUI DVD/VCR Combo, and cannot record from VCR to dvd.Itcomesup with disc error. Can you help?

1.- Check the type of DVD that the recorder accepts, usually id DVD-R (minus R).
2.- Make shure is a DVD recorder.
3.- Internally, the DVD combo comes with a software that don't alow to copy VHS original movies, is a kind of codification that is with the information content in each movie.

Dvd well not play in pc dvd

Did you finalize the DVD disc after you recorded it? If not put it back into the unit and Finalize it P.27 manual " Setting the Disc" and it should play in all playback units. DD
