Generic mp3 player has lost its mind

I have a generic {chipod} that originally worked fine. {a day and a half} now when you turn it on all you get is an hourglass. when you plug it into the computer it is marked as unknown device and searches for the drivers. i have another nearly identical player that gets recognized so i know the drivers are there. and i have the cd as well. yet this one the computer tells me it cant find the drivers for.{it did originally} i do not know how to force a reformat and reinstall the firmware. any suggestions?

My Player doesn't show up as anything other than an MTP device with a battery. No Serial Number, No memory size, unable to sync. Basically it is a nice black paperweight. I can't get the firmware on there because the RCA software doesn't recognize it. What the f&*( ? any ideas?

I have this theory...

i had this problem after i uploaded tooo much music to my chipod, it says it is 8gb (fake lol) and i think it is really just 1gb or less even! :) so the problem is that you have encumbured your chipod system by dumping too much music so you have like 0.99gb/1.0gb.... and you dont have enough swap space for chipods OS so it cant start properly.. i'm looking solution for this without success..... for normal ipod you push "menu"+"play/pause" button for 10s and it formats it-self... not in chipod it wont :(

Alright so i kinda lost my walkman mp3 out in the lawn xD ( it was in my sister's pocket and it fell onto the lawn) my mom found it while she was cleaning the lawn and that was prob 4 days after i had...

This is happening because your player has shorted out. Take the unit apart as far as you are comfortable. Put all the parts into a baggy of dry rice for 2 days. After 2 days, put the player back together and test it again. What this will do is remove all the water from the phone, it will not however reset the water damage check. If that doesn't work you may have to contact the manufacture to see about repair.

My daughter lost the power cord and car charger to her CMV54

Here is the link to Jensen mp3 player info - you will have to pick her model number out of this list, and then call Jensen (in the Contact Us section) to order the cable - some cables are proprietary, so you must have the original version that they sell. They might be able to tell you if a generic USB cable will work:

Won't Work suddenly.

What is happening when you turn the device on? Does it go on and then shut off? If so you will have to reformat the drive for the mp3 player. Simply plug the mp3 player in and click the drive that appears for the player. It should say this device needs to be formatted. Then just follow the steps. Keep in mind you will lost your songs. If the device stays on, do you see your first song on the list. If you do, try pushing the play button, (very last one on bottom) hard.

Creative Labs ZEN SLEEK (20 GB) MP3 Player

If the unit works when plugged in but won't charge, you probably need to replace the battery. An original manufacturer one will cost about 40 dolars and a compatible 3rd party one will cost about half that.

Returning an item

Hey qunna1183,

As long as you are within the 30-day return period and have a copy of your original store receipt, your local Best Buy™ store should still be able to assist you with a return or exchange on your MP3 player. Please keep in mind that if the product is defective and you are beyond the 30-day return period, you will need to file a claim through the Best Buy Product Replacement Plan (PRP) toll-free hotline instead at 888-539-6883.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron

Try going to the following link and follow the directions to flash the firmware in your player. If that doesn't work I'd suggest you call their support line to see about setting up a warranty replacement since they have a 1 year warranty on all of their products. Keep in mind you'll need to have your receipt for verification of the original purchase date and warranty period.

Power button dosn't work

First thing to try would be a firmware restore.

If you don't have the original CD, you can download the Device Manager here:

http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/h/hdd1830_17/hdd1830_17_pal_eng.zip

Install & run the Philips Device Manager & select the repair / restore option, then follow the on-screen prompts.

This will format and re-flash the device firmware. Any tracks on the player will be lost.

Another cause of your problem could be a bad connection on the earphone socket. This is usually accompanied by low or poor sound, with no vocals.
