Question about Hotpoint RB787 Electric Kitchen Range
I have a hotpoint ceramic top electric range that I have had for 2 years. I used the self clean option on my oven and it did smoke from spillage in the oven some while cleaning it. This was back in July. I have tried to unplug the range to see if it will reset and also turned off the breaker on the fuse box but it still will not work. The problem that I am having is the door will unlock and I can open it but whenever I try to turn on the oven it shows and error message of un loc door. The model # is R B787W H1WW. If you have any suggestions for me to fix this since I can't afford to call a repair man and I really miss baking.
I appreciate any help you could give me on this situation.
If you have a multimeter check for resistance on the lock motor. Can access from the back by taking the panel off. Make sure you unplug the range first. If the lock shows open then it is bad and causing your problem. Most likely this is your problem. The motor has to be good for the oven to work. Let me know what you find.
