When I plug my 4gb flash it say malfunction and not recognize

it may be due to malfunctioning of your USB port, just try to plug out and then plug it into another Port

USB device is not recognized when you attach it immediately after your Windows XP-based computer

that my friend its a problem with the firmware, try the usb in other equipment, if the problem persists in other equipements you might be more specific with the problem, if this message appears when you insert your usb on the port and recognize it and then appear the error could be that your pc doesnt have the controllers of the usb ports, (maybe was deleted by error) try also with anoter usb devices to make sure of the malfunction of your usb controllers in your pc...

restart you system then plug it into different port if still not working then change the wire of ur hardrive...

you just uninstall that unkown device which you get in device manager and reconnect the pendrive if again it says unknown device then goto update driver and select 2nd option which is advanced in that select don't search for driver i'll select and select the driver which is shown in the list and click next and finish ur pendrive will works

pen drives generally have 3 to 5 years warranty, if your pen drives are not detectng on other systems also, its better to replace it

pendrive n pc is screwed man....

ic, maybe the usb port of your friend's pc is defective which may cause your pen drive to malfunction, probably a shorted usb port. or just maybe your pendrive was dropped by your friend which damage the drive, it happened to me too before.
