SOURCE: Dishwasher Making Loud High Pitched Noise.

A loud high pitch whine while running the dishwasher means that there is something caught in the chopper assembly. To get to the chopper assembly you need to take the racks out and take the pump apart from the inside of the dishwasher. The chopper assembly looks like a metal grate with holes in it. And it might not even be stuck in the grate but somewhere in the pump area due to the water being pumped out, so the best idea is to take the whole thing apart and clean everywhere. However I do not recommend doing this unless you are completely certain you will remember where the screws and gaskets go, otherwise you risk damaging your pump or house from a leak or improper installation. You have been warned.

SOURCE: Whirlpool Dishwasher Not Working

Change the thermal fuse in the control and door switches. The thermal fuse is designed to fail if there is a problem with the switches.

Whirlpool dishwasher only completes cycle if set on pots and other cycles will not run

Hi,

Please make sure you're loading the soap and preparing the dishwasher and instructed by it's manual. The dish washer might not run if certain compartments having been filled and/or closed. Otherwise, you can schedule a home repair with your local Home Depot.

Thank you.

Pots and pan cycle button keeps blinking

I don't see the make and model of your dishwasher listed, but I suspect it's a whirlpool.

I've seen this quite often on Whirlpools. 90 percent of the time, it's the user interface control panel like this one here:

I had a black out and the dishwasher was running at the time. The dishwasher emptied out all over the floor. when the power came back on the dishwasher was flashing an error code 4. I rang Whirlpool for...

The trouble looks to be little confusing. Whenever the power fails
during mid cycle this happens. Try running the balance cycle.

Since you say the water is fully drained, try adding water manually to
the wash chamber to certain level ( not to over flow ). Give a try!

There should be a master reset for which, you are requested to check
the user manual

I have a Whirlpool Quiet Partner dishwasher that stopped working

that is a typical indication of a faulty board. once replaced, i suggest a surge plug to be installed. it will protect the unit from future power fluctuations.

Dishwasher runs for a long time

If your dishwasher's cycle times are too long, check these:

Water pre-heating
Cycle not completing
Water pre-heating Yourdishwasher may pre-heat the water. If so, and if the water entering thedishwasher is cool, the heater may take up to half an hour to heat thewater.

To avoid the wait, increase the incoming watertemperature before turning on the dishwasher. Do that by running thekitchen sink faucet until the water runs hot. Or increase thetemperature of the hot water to the entire house at the hot waterheater.

Warning! To lessen the risk of scalding, don't set the hot water heater temperature higher than 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
