The T-Mobile G1 doesn't actually support file transfer through bluetooth :S So it's not faulty, it's just not programmed to do that. Sorry! However it should be able to find your bluetooth headset, it always finds mine. Maybe the headset is faulty?

SOURCE: Bluetooth not accepting anything

Hi
I was trying to transfer some ringtones from old phone to G1 and facing the same problem.
And now somewhere from net I found the solution to my problem.
Although it could not be done by bluetooth, but my problem is solved now.
You can also try it. It may help you out.

> Transfer ringtones/music/photos from your phone to Desktop
> Connect G1 to Desktop by USB cable
> On the top of G1 screen it will show the icon of USB (connected)
> Scroll down from the icon and select 'copy files from computer'
> Select 'Mount'
> On desktop a massage will appear, click 'open folder & show files'.
> Copy & Paste files from computer to G1. Now your files are in G1
> If you want to set any song as ringtone press & hold that song, a menu will appear and you can select 'set as ringtone'

Bluetooth paired but not coneected

How to pair and then connect to a Bluetooth device on your T-Mobile G1 Google smartphone.
1. First, ensure Bluetooth is enabled.
2. From the Home screen, press Menu.
3. Select Settings.
4. Select Wireless controls.
5. Select Bluetooth settings.
6. The G1 starts searching for Bluetooth devices in range. Select the device when it appears.
7. Type the PIN for the device.
8. The device should then pair with the G1. You can then select the device name to connect.
Bluetooth only supports ad2p profiles for headsets, music, and sharing of contacts and pictures. This is limited by VZ. Until the phone is rooted, there is absolutely no way around this. You cannot send files other than contacts and pictures via bluetooth.

It sucks... I know. I am in the same boat. I am [im]patiently waiting for the droid to be rooted so I can use bluetooth to share files between two droids.

How to pair and Send Music to a Phone Via Bluetooth

Bluetooth is a type of technology found in electronics that allows you to send and receive signals and files wirelessly. Most commonly used in cell phone headsets, many people also use Bluetooth to transfer data. There is no set protocol for all devices, so instructions for use vary from one device to another. Check out the following loose guidelines for sending music from one Bluetooth phone to another, or from a Bluetooth-enabled computer to phone.

Instructions

Verify that Bluetooth is turned on or enabled in both your devices. Most cell phones will have a Bluetooth menu in their Settings or Tools. For computers, you may see a Bluetooth icon in your system tray. If unsure, check your product manual for specific instructions.

Follow the instructions to pair (connect) your two devices. If you are asked for a passkey, try entering 0000 which is usually the default for any device.

When prompted on the other device, give permission for the original device to access it.

If transferring from phone to phone

Navigate to the song you want to send and hit the button that takes you to the options menu. Choose the option to send your song; depending on the brand of phone it may say "Send" or "Move."

The next menu should ask if you want to use a text message or Bluetooth to move or send the file. Choose Bluetooth.

When prompted on the phone receiving the file, accept it.
If transferring from computer to phone

Look for an option to browse the contents of the phone. Navigate to the Music or Multimedia folder on your phone.

Navigate to the place on your computer where your music file is kept in a separate window.

Drag the file from its original location to the correct folder on your phone.

Accept the file when prompted by your phone.

Tips & Warnings

Pairing is usually the most difficult part of the process. Make sure you read your manual on both devices if it isn't working for you. If you don't see the menu to move or send your music, your phone manufacturer may not allow it. Check your manual or with your carrier's tech support website. This process usually applies to MP3s and not ringtones.

My fones blutooth isnt workin

Sounds to me like your G1 isn't set to discoverable. Should be an option for it in the bluetooth section. Then go ahead and try to pair them, also make sure your bluetooth is in pairing mode, most bluetooth headsets get be set to this by holding down the on button for over 5 seconds and usually shows as a constant blue light.
