SOURCE: Kenwood KDC-MP438U "USB ERROR"

IF YOU DID NOT PRESS THE RESET BUTTON NEX TO THE USB PLUG, DO IT. IT WILL REINITIATE THE DEVICE TO THE FACTORY; YOU WILL HAVE TO ADJUST THE CLOCK.
I DID BECAUSE IT WAS WORKING AT FIRST.( PAGE 3 OF THE MANUAL)

SOURCE: Kenwood kdc-bt742u flashing protect and no sound

If protect is coming up on the display, it means the system is detecting a short somewhere on one of the speakers and so is turning the amp off to avoid damage.
Check all the connections at the back of the amp to ensure they are not shorting, and at the back of each speaker, if nothing is found there, check each wire for damage, or a bare wire touching the body of the car

Is there a reset button on a Kenwood KDC-210U?

Yes there is a recessed reset button on the KDC-210U. It appears to be accessible only when you remove the detachable faceplate. Once you remove the faceplate, look at the lower half of the unit a bit to the left of the center of the CD-Receiver. The placement is shown on page 3 of the user manual. Kenwood has the manual on their support site. The direct link to the manual is http://manual.kenwood.com/files/GET0939-001A.pdf .

I hope this helps.

I need to know which wires go to which on a 2000

Kenwood wiring diagrams are usually on Kenwood website. You just need a jumper harness from the Toyota plugs to your player. A good local ICE shop or car accessories shop could help. Try EBAY?

I am installing kenwood kdc-mp443u. it is flashing protect and i can't remove it. can you help please?

A speaker wire has a short-circuit, crossed, or touches the chassis of the vehicle it activates the protection mode function.
? Wire or insulate the speaker cable properly and press the reset button. If the "PROTECT" code does not disappear, consult your nearest service center.
I have attached a link for you which is for a free Kenwood KDC-MP443U instruction manual download. Nice receiver by the way!

My kenwood kdc-mp53u flashes PROTECT whats wrong with it?

Protect indicates that there is a short or a grounding problem usually within the speakers2_bing.gif or the speaker wiring. Locate and press the reset button (pinhole). If protect comes back then disconnect all speakers, reset and connect them back one at a time until protect shows up again. This will help you find out where the unwanted DC signal is coming from. If protect shows up when all speakers are disconnected, then it may need service.

sounds like it could be either a bad speaker, a shorted speaker wire, or a bad output ic inside the deck.

Security Code for Protect mode

Turn on the car so the radio is flashing "Protect." Look on the front / removable face of the stereo. On it you will find a small round hole - that's a reset button. Find a small paper clip, unfold the clip and stick it gently into the hole. The "Protect" will stop flashing, and Kenwood will be displayed. Unfortunately all your settings/presets will be gone, but at least the stereo is working again!
