How do I use vizcam on my laptop?
After I plug it into my laptop, nothing happens..
Do I need a driver or software for the vizcam 1000? Where can I get it (if I need it) from a reliable source?

Did the system come with a setup CD? If so, unplug the DVR from your system, insert and run the setup CD then plug in the DVR and it should recognized.
It seems that your battery is totally empty, Take the battery off and plug your laptop straight to the adapter and try, make sure the adapter is working fine, if nothing happen check the board.
nope, it is your dc power regulator board. you will note this happens if the battery is in or out of the laptop. that is the key test. some regulators are on the main board and some are seperate for this reason. I think the vostro though is on the main board. A little board re-work will resolve this issue after replacing some components, but this is way beyond a home user's ability.. trust me on this. Sorry for the bad news. Thanks!
You may be in for some trouble, a failed bios update isn't always an easy fix. if you can find the cmos battery try to remove that for a few seconds. you will also need a disk version of the bios, download that from dell on another computer and copy it to floppy or cd and see if you can boot to that and reinstall the bios.
when you press the power button what happens, does it light up and run the fan? Nothing appears on the screen?
Ok well this is a USB camera, ya need the correct cable and the drivers..

Take a look here as there is a lot of info about it. But basically as I said, ya need to find the correct drivers and install the camera into any USB port, when it's detected give it the driver software and ya should be good to go.

The link for the UK version manual is currently undergoing site maintenance - may be back on in a day or so, maybe longer;

Hope this helps - please ask again if you don't find what you need in there :)
Hello Pelota,
Here is what is happening, most web cams are charge-coupled device CCD type image devices they work by caturing the image as it changes the charge along the surface of a capacitive matrix. Over time this matrix begins to break down. This is what you are experiencing. The cheaper the camera the faster the breakdown of the matrix. It can not be helped. The fact is as all of these digital cameras get older they will begin the dim and have poor color resolution due to the CCD matrix decaying.
I hope this helps.
There must be a driver conflict with the graphics, try uninstalling the cam software and re installing and use a different usb port.
I assume there are no lines after a reboot so update your pc's graphics card driver and the latest driver for the cam.
If you are having general graphic problems, go to My computer,
right click>properties>hardware tab>device manager and in the list look for graphics adapter, click on the '+' sign to your graphics adapter and right click and select uninstal.
reboot pc and the graphics controller will be re installed and the driver also automatically
sorry, i don't quite understand
do you have the driver for the vizcam 1000?
