Do you really want to use the GE software, when there are so many better alternatives around? As I mentioned in my original solution, you don't even need any additional software.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

I lost the cd and need to send photos to computer can i download the disc from net

  1. You can download withought the disk By usng these instructions found on:
http://www.chriscamera.com/downloadingphotos.htm
Be Sure to rate macapplezoo 100% or whatever you think I deserve!
  1. DO NOT USE THE SOFTWARE PACKAGED WITH YOUR CAMERA.
  2. The easiest program to copy picture files from one place to another came with your computer. It's called "My Computer"
  3. Turn off your camera and remove the memory card.
  4. Insert the memory card in a card reader, either one that's built into the computer or a separate one.
  5. To open My Computer, click Start, and then click My Computer
  6. The memory card shows up as a removable disk in "My Computer"
  7. Left click on that removable disk to find a folder called DCIM (Digital Camera IMages)
  8. The files in that folder are your pictures, and their names end in "jpg"
  9. Copy those files by selecting them and copying them. The keyboard shortcut (control-A) marks all the photos in a folder and the keyboard shortcut (control-C) copies them to the computer's clipboard.
  10. Navigate to the folder within "My Documents" named "My Pictures" and paste (control-V) your photos into place.
  11. Learn how to make new subfolders within the master folder "My Pictures" so that it's easier to find a photo you want. I make up folders with names like "2007March" and divide my photos by the month taken.
  12. After you copy files or folders to the hard drive, it is useful to view the hard drive to confirm that the files are copied.
  13. Do not erase photos from your memory card until you are positive you've saved them on the hard drive!

Using the camera as a source, instead of a card reader (but we really, really suggest using a card reader)

  • You can copy photo files directly from your camera to the computer. Use the USB cable that came with the camera.
  • Very important: make sure that your batteries have a full charge before you start this procedure.
  • If the power fails during the transfer, data will be corrupted.
  • Be very careful when inserting the USB cable connector into the socket of the camera. This is one of the most fragile components of the camera and we have seen cameras damaged by carelessness.
  • After you copy files or folders to the hard drive, it is useful to view the hard drive to confirm that the files are copied.
  • For the greatest safety of your irreplaceable images, make a second copy on CD, DVD or detachable hard drive.

I have a hp psc 1610ie all-in-one printer. Had my

Hi,

First go to: HP PSC1610 Support

(You may want to bookmark this site for future reference.)

Click on Software & Driver Downloads.

Next select your Operating System.

On most you can either download just the driver or full feature software. (NOTE: Full feature files are very large, so be patient.)

I recommend choosing SAVE when you get to the download window and direct it to save the file to your Desktop.

When the download is complete, prepare your printer: Ink, Paper, Power ON, but make sure the USB cable is DISCONNECTED.

Run (double-click) the file that you downloaded. Follow the prompts and connect the USB cable when directed.

Thanks for using Fixya. If you should have any problems, just use the coment button.

You can download the Vivitar software here. Click on the "Vivitar Experience Software" link.
You don't need to use the Vivitar software, however. ''downloaded photos to E drive but it changed to F can I retrieve

Yes.
Go into Device manager and 'Assign' the devices permanent drive ID's
Then no matter what you plug in where, they will stay the same ID

Disconnect your Camera
Start, Run, type compmgmt.msc, Rt Click your Drive 1, select properties and NAME it, then Rt click it again, click Change driveletter and manually assign it the E: designation.

Now plug in your camera and do the same thing, but use F: this time

Done!
Hope that helps

Won't load from CD

Hi Samdeb,

I would suggest a couple of steps for you,

step 1, delete all the temp files and folders from the computer,
click on start - > go to run -> type %temp% and click
on Ok, you will find a couple of files and folders, try
deleting every thing.

Step 2,
Try copying all the content of the cd to a folder in your
hard drive.

Step 3.
Even after copying the content if you are unable to
install then try downloading the full software for the
printer from www.hp.com website.

If all the above steps are not working then mail me back with the error message as in whats happening and i will help you.

Thanks & Regards
Santhosh
