Why will my washer put grease on my clothes? I have ruined two uniforms now due to grease stains on my uniform pants and now have ruined a shirt of my husbands. It happens in the washer. I have done two or three empty wash runs with bleach and soap to see if it needed to be cleaned but is still happening. Any ideas short of having to get a new washer... My email is [email protected] thank you Dolly Taylor PS I own a GE Profile Washer and Dryer had them about 4-5 years.

Re: HELP GREASE RUINING CLOTHES IN WASHER
It sounds as though you have a problem with a transmission seal. If the unit is within five (5) years old, it is still covered under the maufacturers warranty. Locate your purchase receipt to see exactly when it was purchased and contact GE.

Check the drum surface of your dryer for possible object that may be stucked in the drum holes that may cause damage to the clothes. You may do similar checks of the washer drum if your dryer drum checked negative.
this may due to softener, put spray and wash on stains and let it set all day, stop using softener use HE detergent and oxy clean powder wih soap in dispencer, also you may want to sanitize washer before you wash shirt also use the stain setting and extra rinse.thanks
Since this happened from day 1, your water may be the problem. Do you have well water? If so, get a softener system. This will get rid of the iron, which is responsible for rust stains. I really doubt that a new machine would cause rust or grease.
Why didn't you do something five years ago when you first noticed this? It will be much more difficult to get a resolution from the manufacturer after5 years.
First I would start by cleaning your washer system with vinegar. Ran your machine like you would without clothes and pour a cup of vinegar like you would with the soap for a whole cycle. If this doesn't work chances are your drain is clog or your pump isn't working properly.
HI! I just posted a question to "justask.com" and am having the exact same problem. I paid $9 for this answer and was happy to pay it because I now know what it is! From what I have been told, it is from the transmission in your washer and will cost at least $400 to fix it (that's just a ballpark figure... I have a Frigidaire and that was the figure I was given). So, basically, it would be more cost effective for you to purchase a new washer.
