Projector will play as normal. After 5 minutes, no picture on projector screen, lamp goes out, with red light showing on lamp button. Lamp has been recently replaced

Yes you have to reset the lamp timer.
How to do this :
1.) Hold in the up arrow key on the Projector for 5 seconds , a on-screen display will appear in the top left hand corner.
2.) It will read : Press left or right and then Menu or Auto.
Just follow the steps and the lamp timer will be reset.

1. How to enter factory menu:
I. Hold press "UP" button until the "Lamp hours info." OSD display on bottom-right of screen.
Press keypad <Power> and <Blank> key simultaneously again, then enter Factory menu.
enter in fan menu and increse the speed of fans.

Mine needed a "fan module" replaced. The part number is 60.J8613.011.
Cost was $60, plus $100 for labour.

Hello!
After 2 years I finnaly solved the problem. There was a flaw in the lamp´s temperature circuit. A technician disassambled my BENQ PB8253 unit and fixed the problem. Charged me US$ 75.00. I´m in Brazil.

SOURCE: Ballast error status - lamp voltage too high
You need to replace the balast as the voltages are buringing the bulb out and this is caused by a balast that is bad. The baslast is what the bulb connects to this has a sensor on it that relays voltages and heat back to the main control unit.
