The USB Adapter is plug and play. This means Windows will automatically detect it and start installing the drivers for it. If Windows is unable to install the drivers you might have to install the ones from the CD if one was provided along with the USB Adapter.

Please note that according to the specifications I found the D-LINK 3.75G HSUPA is only compatible with USB 2.0. This means that if you plug it into a USB 3.0 port it won't be detected by your computer and the USB Adapter will not work.

Windows 7 usb driver

make sure the db9 rs232 cable is the correct type.
be sure to set the correct parity and bit stops and baud rate.
you may require a driver if windows 7 isn't already set up for serial connections. http://myaccount.flukenetworks.com/fnet/en-us/supportAndDownloads/KB/Copper-Testing/scanlink/How_do_I_export_Scanlink_data_to_a_text_file
see the link for the how to connect.
I would recommend a usb to serial adapter and make sure to get one with the drivers for windows 7.

My garmin GPS 12 needs a serial port connection. New HP laptop with Windows 7 OS only has USB connections. Salesman sold me a Belkin F5U109 adapter but windows wont recognise it.

You should install the drivers for the adapter running as administrator. If the adapter is not supported by windows 7 you should give it back to salesman and get a new one compatible with windows 7

What is the exact model number of your wireless adapter?

You may refer to this link for a compatible list of devices with Windows 7.

Also, please refer to this link on how to manually install the drivers.

If you are using the WUSB54GC v3, this will work with Win 7 using the Windows Vista driver.

Below are drivers that you may download from the Linksys website for WUSB54GC v3.
