Question about Olympus Camedia P-10 Thermal Photo Printer

1 Answer

Olympus Camedia P-10

I just changed the cartridge and put new paper in and now, it does not print anymore. It starts all ok, the Print Progress: B data being output...
It makes the right noise, when the color bar on the Print Monitor is 100% it stops and after 20 sec a window opens which says: A printer error occurred
(error code: 21h) The printing is aborted. Both the lights Access and Paper blink in front of the printer too.
I have no idea what to do.
Can you help please????

I also just replaced the ribbon and the paper, and now the printer no longer works. I have tried more paper, less paper, reinstalling the ribbon, etc.

I keep getting the 21h error message --- same as those already posted... I just replaced the paper and the "Paper" red light keeps blinking, even when printing is already aborted, the blinking red light for paper just keeps on --- tried reloading the paper, refreshing my PC, etc etc, everything I can think of! My goodness, why can't Olympus solve this issue???

    same problem!

  • Anonymous Mar 15, 2009

Worked fine with original paper and cartridge (5 pictures worth), 4x6.  I then added the 3.5x5 adapter, new paper (50 sheets max) and cartridge for 3.5x5.   It wouldn't print.  The red light paper indicator blinks.   Double checked everything.  Turned printer off and on and red light had stopped blinking.  I tried printing again.  Still didn't work.  Red light for paper blinking again.

According to the Manual, when both the Access and Paper light go on simultaneously, there is a paper jam. Check to see if there is, also check to make sure the paper is loading from your tray correctly. You have the paper face down right?
Turn off the printer after you fix he jam or paper, and turn back on before you try to print again.
Hope this helps

You may have to clean the print nozzles.

Note: The layout varies depending on the printer and version of Windows you are using.

  6. Insert a piece of letter-sized plain paper in the paper tray.

  7. Verify the desired paper source for the Nozzle Check is selected on the unit by changing the <Paper Feed Switch> if necessary.

  8. Select 'Nozzle Check'.

Memo: By clicking 'Initial Check Items' before clicking 'Print Check Pattern', you can see the specific confirmation items in Nozzle Check.

    mp_500_print_check_pattern.jpg

  9. When the confirming message is displayed, click 'OK'. (Nozzle Check printing will start.)

  10. Examine the Nozzle Check output.

  11. Determine whether the pattern is normal or not normal.
  • Click here if the pattern is normal.

  • If the pattern is not normal, perform a Cleaning.

Note: Perform this step first to clean the print head.

  • If the pattern is not normal after two Cleanings, perform up to two Deep Cleanings of the print head.

Caution: Cleaning consumes a certain amount of ink. Perform cleanings only when necessary.
If this doesn't work, go to the same maintence menu and pick nozzle cleaner and then try again

Colour on glossy paper

First thing, use original Canon cartridges. that could be the source of your issue, as these days, printer companies resort to these kinda tricks to ensure that the customer only buys their products.

Next, make sure that you have selected the proper paper type and output quality under printer properties.

Should this not work, please post back so that we can assist you further. But remember, try with the original inks first, and not refilled or generic cartridges.

Leaving black streaks down paper? Ink cartridge

If this started after cartridge was replaced, then it is probably defective.

Take the cartridge out and take a look at the print head. Clean the print head.
Put the cartridge back in
Try and feed paper (not printing anything on it, if you can not get it to just feed paper, print a blank page) and see if it still has lines. If so, you are probably going to have to clean ink from inside the paper feed area. If not, try using it for a while and if it starts again, get a replacement cartridge. You might want to save some of the bad prints to show the clerk and try to get the new cartridge under warranty.

Replaced cartridges

keep cleaning untill it starts to print clearly, you may reuse the same paper for that purpose, if you don't see any progress after 10 cleans, consider getting lasser printers, they are immune to print head drying and save alot of money on ink replacements. go with brother color or black and white series. I switched and don't have problems anymore

To cancel a print job in Windows you can use one of the following two methods:

CANCELLING A PRINT JOB WITH THE PROGRESS METER:
When you send a print job to the printer, the Status Monitor will appear in the bottom right corner of your screen. Another printer icon for the PROGRESS METER will also appear in the taskbar while printing is taking place. This PROGRESS METER is there so you can manage print priorities or cancel print jobs.

1. Highlight the print job in the PROGRESS METER box.
2. Click on DOCUMENT and CANCEL, or, right click on the job name and left click CANCEL or DELETE.
3. Confirm cancelling the print job.

CANCELLING A PRINT JOB FROM THE PRINTERS WINDOW:
If no PROGRESS METER appears, you can access the document queue in this fashion:

1. Open START, SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL, PRINTERS (START, CONTROL PANEL, PRINTERS and FAXES in Windows XP).
2. Right click on your Epson printer name, left click PURGE PRINT JOBS (98,ME), or CANCEL ALL DOCUMENTS (2000,XP). (Or, double-click on the printer name to see and modify the status of documents in queue.)
3. Confirm cancelling all documents.

Keep in mind that once information has been sent to the printer it resides in the spooling folders within Windows. It may a while for printing to stop as this data clears the system.

If the printer continues to print (ie multiple copies of a cancelled job, or garbled print) remove the rest of the paper from the printer and allow it to run out. Once an "out of paper" type error appears on your screen, cancel the documents. Once all print job information has deleted, reload the paper and press the paper feed button once to clear the red light and return the printer to a ready state.

Hi,

You need to load the PRINTED ALIGNMENT PAGE on the scanner glass, then press on "OK" button. It should start scanning the alignment page. That way, you are completing the PROCESS of ALIGNMENT.

Thank you so much.
