My ge microwave model # jeb1095sb03 shuts off after 1-2 seconds

My GE microwave/convection shuts off after 1-2 seconds. You also hear a popping sound just before it shuts down. I need to unplug the unit to restore power but does the same exact thing.

Check the internal fuse. Unplug it, unscrew and take off the cover, the fuse should be easily found in the back by the power cord. It looks like a regular fuse but is white instead of clear glass because microwave fuses are special. You'll have to measure it with a meter as a result and be sure to replace it with the same kind. (try finding them at radio shack) Hopefully there isn't something more serious also.

SOURCE: Sharp model R-1871 shuts off every 59 seconds

This is a problem in one of the damper-related components, either the switch or motor or the damper door may be binding.

The damper is a door inside that opens or closes depending on cooking mode. If the controller senses that the door is not in the right position, it will shut down the cook cycle.

Sharp models stop after 59 seconds.

See the attached sample drawing for a typical damper assembly.

We have the applicable service manuals for these models and have uploaded it to our site here and here to help you.

If a switch is all you need, we offer a universal type for only $5 postpaid which you can order here.

SOURCE: Our handle broke on our GE Microwave convection

Here is a link to PartSelect.com, I have used them for my microwave repairs in the past and they usually ship the items fast.

I have put in your Model number, but the closest that I could find was JVM1190BY003. You can look at the picture and determine if the parts look the same and the picture will show you that you will have to take the entire door apart, (You may already know that).

http://www.partselect.com/ModelFrames.aspx?ModelID=386757&ModelNum=JVM1190BY003&mfgModelNum=&ManufactureID=2&Selected=00110600i01&Position=1&mfg=GE&Type=&Mark=1

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.

I have a GE PEB1590DM2BB microwave/convection. The front door panel is scratched and I want to replace it. Is it difficult to pop off the front panel? How is it done?

Its not worth it to replace the door on that microwave, total cost of the door looks like 198.00 , maybe you could call GE parts and see if they have any in stock, WB56X10758 - However I highly doubt it is worth it. You are better off going to the website www.geappliances.com and finding a similar countertop microwave and just replace it with a new one. Perhaps if you call GE parts you could haggle them down on the cost of the door, however the labor of replacing it in that microwave isn't really worth it.

Bought house with GE Profile Convection Oven. Do not know proper cooking directions, nor how to work many of the features. Also no light bulb in it & would like to know which one to buy. Need manual t

GE has the manuals for most of their appliances on their site: http://www.geappliances.com/service_and_support/literature/ . Just enter the model number and click Submit.
The direct link to the manual for the JVM1790 Over-the-Range Convection/Microwave oven is here: http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-40480-1.pdf . GE only lists the JVM1790CK, JVM1790BK, JVM1790WK and JVM1790SK.

I hope this helps.

My microwave/convection oven (a GE unit model JES1290SK) started beeping every few seconds and displaying F6 on the control panel. I unplugged it and waited several minutes and when plugged in it displays...

The technical sheets in my files do not list F6 on the error code chart for GE microwaves.

Generally, these are the error codes possible on GE microwaves:

F1 open thermal sensor (convection models)
F2 shorted thermal sensor (convection models)
F3 key panel shorted for more than 60 seconds
F4 open humidity sensor
F5 shorted humidity sensor

There should be a "mini-manual" (technical sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, & testing.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

GE JVM1190 control pad

It is not your key panel, but the magnetron inside the microwave that is causing you the problem. The reason it does not short out on defrost or convection is because it is not drawing as much current through the magnetron to short out.

My microwave shuts off after a few mins. of use

There seems to be a rash of these units failing in this way due to bad magnetrons. The magnetrons normally have a warranty that runs for a few years. In some models, they have a whole kit they replace, consisting of a new magnetron, stirrer, and high-voltage rectifier diode. I would call GE Customer Relations with your model and serial numbers to see if yours is affected. They're at 1-800-386-1215 (8-6 ET). I would also suggest you ask them for a referral to a GE-authorized servide center in your area. Good luck. I appreciate your thoughtful rating of this answer.
