http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/bulletin.jsp?ct=SB&soid=886254&ref=EVIf you want to use an external cd drive these are the ones that will work and only these..
The procedure is getting into BIOS settings (press F2 on start ) and on boot sector select the external drive as boot device )
If you want to boot from a SD card or USB memory stick ..than you have to make a boot-able one ..and from what I tried is kinda tricky to make a XP one..so you might consider to install windows 7 if the Ram memory is at least 1 G
But if you want to try ..here are some resources about how to make such a boot-able flash ..
here is for vista and 7 if you do nto have the cd drive ..use a virtual one like iso hunt
http://www.intowindows.com/bootable-usb/Here is an xp ..and the tools for making a boot-able stick ..read carefully the instructions ..
it was made to install a asus eee which is also a non cd drive net-book
http://wiki.eeeuser.com/windowsxpusbThey recommend to select teh boot device on each restart ..I say to check the bios and see if the boot from usb is available and select it first boot device throughout the installation ..
