Seagate Free Agent Go Problem

Hi All,Need some help here. I am useing the Seagate Free Agent Go external hard disk, 320Gig. On the security tab i have created an encryption folder, together with my password to protect the files and save all my important files. This morning, when I open the seagate manager, go on the security tab it doesn't give me an option to open the encrypted folder. THe only options that appeared was to created password, re-enter password. I tried to to that and click enter but then it prompts me to the seagate manager home menu. I wasn't able to decrypt all my files.Ive checked on My Computer, click the drive, and it shows there the encyption folder ive made. But I need to use the seagate manag er, and go to security tab to open the encrypted file. Please help. Thanks.

Install the seagate manager on a different computer and decrypt the files there first then move it back to your computer using the basic copy/cut and paste.

My seagate free agent disk s/n 2GETBTBD lights only flash and not reading

Hi,

The disk drive within the unit has failed, it needs to be replaced.

If you can still see it in your OS then there is a chance of recovering the data, to do so download the following and follow the instructions.

Hope this helps!

My seagate 500gb free agent go not show any icon and it cannot show anydrive in computer.

if this is first use try this: (in Windows 7) right click my computer > manage > storage > disk management > see if there are any blank spaces under the "volume" tab > click on it > format > follow the steps and thats it.

if this isn't the case and the drive doesn't even turn on...this might sound dumb but make sure its connected to the electricity because the big hard drives need extra power other than the usb.

post back if you need more help.

I reformatted my C: drive and ever since Windows will not recognize my Seagate External Free Agent hard drive. It shows up under ?My Computer? as Removable Disk (I: )? It used to be listed as Seagate...

Try connecting it to another computer. If you can see your data then back it up etc.
After you have recovered your data connect it to your computer, from Disk Manager, remove the partition, recreate it again and then format the drive, hopefully your external drive will be operational again.
There is a possibility that the hard disk has died and you will have lost your data. If you are desparate, hard drive data recovery companies charge an arm and a leg to recover data from dead drives.

Hi there, I have a Seagate 250Gb external Free Agent disk that I want to put in to my laptop computer. Any ideas how to get in to the case without breaking it?

Hi,

I am Satya.

Hope this helps.

You can connect the Seagate 250 Gb external Free Agent disk by using a Usb connector and connect it to the USB port of your Laptop. In this way you can connect the disk to your Laptop computer without breaking it.

Windows will automatically detect the the drive and can be browsed through Windows Explorer as a separate drive.

Hope this helps.

Thank you.
