Get 2 X 512 modules as this is maximum that is supported by each slot. (you have 4 slots on your VAIO).

At the moment you have :Standard Memory: 512MB removable

  • Maximum Memory supported by the system: 2048MB
  • Slots: 4 (4 banks of 1)

  • Here are the memory specifications:
  • Module Size: 512MB
  • Package: 184-pin DIMM
  • Feature: DDR PC3200

  • You can get one for rather resaonable price from crucial.com

The thing is that Each memory slot can hold DDR PC3200 with a maximum of 512MB per slot. If you will add 1GB module in one slot this may not be recognised by VAIO.

Can the LG Xnote RD405 laptop intially with 1gb RAM be upgraded to 4 gb using two 2gb RAM's ? Please help me by providing an answer clearly, Thanks in Advance.

Here is the memory specifications from LG.

Maximum Size: Each slot is 1024MB and can be expanded to 2048MB.
    SO DIMM Type for Memory Expansion: DDR2 SDRAM SO-DIMM (256MB, 512MB, 1024MB)

It can take a maximum of 2 gigabytes of ram. It will take two 1 gb sticks. It uses DDR2 laptop ram. You need to check to see if you have one stick that has 1 gb or 2 sticks that have 512 mb each. That will tell you if you need to buy one or two sticks of ram at 1 gb each. You will be able to tell a difference going from one gb to two gb of ram. I think it would be worth the investment if you plan on using the computer for another year or more.

Upgrade my RAM from 1Gb to 2Gb everything is working but the cumputer still register 1 Gb of ram

Did you buy a 2GB ram stick or did you buy 1GB ram X2 so in your laptop you have only 1 stick of ram in there thats 2GB or do you have 2 sticks of ram in there which are 1GB if you have 2 sticks in there means one of them dead and is not registering it on your computer if you have only 1 stick in there thats 2GB but your system only reading it as 1GB then you will need to update your bios as it could be set only to read 1GB

Can a dell dimension 2400 have 2 GB of memory, right now I have 1 GB

Please open up your pc and make sure the RAM card is inserted correctly, if it is inserted correctly, it is probably that the Ram has gone faulty and you will need to replace it, but they are so cheap.
    Hope this helps

I bought an Acer AO532h-2964 netbook, and I'm wondering: can I upgrade the RAM from 1 GB to 2 GB, and if so, which memory chip should I buy?

yes you can, your netbook can have a max of 2gb ram and a max module size of 2gb.
So you have 1gb pc 5300(ddr667) installed, and you can buy 1 more 1gb module, laptops use sodim.
    Aria.com has a 1gb stick for £25

    Ram upgrading procedure

DDR-400 (not ddr2) PC-3200 You should look for Dual channel memory and put them in in matching pairs. The maximum amount is 4GBs Also consider looking for the lowest density you can buy. 2 -2.5- 3 is good
I like to purchase from Newegg.com they are fast, reliable, decent price, and have a great selection of goods.
The colors of the slots are to mark the channel pairs, so you know how to put them in in matching sets. Oh and when you boot up the first time your computer will stop and tell you the the amount of memory has changed- just click on F1 to continue.

If NewEgg interests you just click on the link above..it is set to take you to the correct page.

    No display after upgrading RAM

Are you saying that there are only 2 slots for ram or 4, if 4 then you may have a dual channel lap top, in which case you need all of the ram to match, they all have to be the same exact ram.you cant mix and match, also is the bios recent, it sounds like you may need a bios flash if the laptop isn't recent. And there may be a limitation on the amount of ram it takes, I just setup a brand new acer and it only two gig max, see if they offer a bios update

Can you expand the memory on a Systemax Intel SIS651 System

Your motherboard is actually a Foxconn 651M03.

According to your system you have :
    512MB DDR333 PC2700 Non-ECC Memory (512MB x 1)
    (One stick of 512MB)

    The motherboard manual says this:
    System Memory
    Two 184-pin DDR DIMM slots
    Supports PC1600/PC2100/PC2700 memory
Supports 64Mb/128Mb/256Mb/512Mb technology up to 2GB

(This means you can have a total of up to 2 Gigabytes of RAM)

If you upgrade your RAM, you will need to make sure that you get the correct type.

If you want to keep the RAM you have, you will only be able to have 1.5 GB of RAM because you only have two slots to work with. If you want to upgrade to the full 2 GB, you will need to buy 2, 1 GB sticks.
