When turning on the camera I immediately get an error message that say zoom error! nothing I do seems to help; I've read that others have the same problem is there a solution? Same problem. Firmware upgrade to v1.04 did not help me. Do I have to send it back?

I'm not sure if this will work as I have yet to try this for my self. But according to others who have had this problem pulling lens out while camera is off and then restarting camera works. If this does work please notify. Or just tell me what happens when this is done

Zoom error Fuji S1000fd

I have seen instances where people managed to get this problem fixed themselves. the zoom mechanism, it seems, is not all that complex. If you think you've got nothing to lose (there is a risk factor) just take it apart and have a look. Good luck!

My fujifilm s1000 keeps showing "zoom error." I don't know what happend. It's like one day it's working, the next not. I have a family member graduating Friday and can't afford a new camera. I've taken out...

Hi.

If you try turning on the camera with the lens cap on, you may get zoom error. Ensure that you are removing the lens cap before turning on the camera.

If the autofocus ring is held while taking the picture, or operating the lens this will also cause the Zoom error message coming up.

If that is not the problem, then the lens has troubles extending. This may happen because of dust stuck in lens mechanism, or because of a mechanical fault concerning the lens.
Any cause preventing lens from full extention or retraction will trigger zoom error.

Here a basic manual in PDF format.

Here Owners manual.

Have a fujifilm finepix s1000fd and when I use

Your cameras focus lens is probably stuck.
It operates via a long metal rod, a pin which follows a track in the side wall of the lens and a tensioned spring. one or more of these has probably jammed causing the focus lens not to move when you zoom.
Unfortunately for this camera, if you cannot free it by switching on/off, tapping the lens etc, you will have to strip the camera down to get at the lens unit. you will have to discharge the flash capacitor before desoldering the control board from the main board before removing to access the lens.
Recommend you find someone who knows about this or send to Fuji.

I have a fuji finepix S1000FD camera and it wont function. The screen has gone blue and there is a message saying zoom error. Have taken batteries out and left for a while ... tried this a few times,...

will the lens move in and out as normal? or is it stuck?
If it will move then the internal lens assembly has a problem.
If it won't move then that is causing the problem.
Will require internal inspection by someone who knows cameras

My FINEPIX s1000fd fujifilm camera displays zoom error! in red and won't take pictures please help. We put new batteries in and think I have all the settings right thanks ellen

Try these:
1) Make sure the lens cap is off. When the camera fires up, if it feels any resistance, it will stop zooming and tell you "zoom error"
2) Recharge or fit new batteries. Use 2700 power if you can get them.
3)Is there a bit of dirt between the zoom part and the camera body? I had this problem after my camera had been in my overcoat pocket. I cleared it out with a stiff artist's brush. Do NOT use WD 40 or similar, as I found to my cost on another camera. It eventually seeped through to the works and made all the pics cloudy!
4) Hold the camera body in one hand and gently wiggle the zoom part from side to side and up to down. You will hear a quiet click in the mechanism.
I have used my S1000fd lots now, and the initial "zoom error" problems have stopped.
It's a fine little camera, I especially like the 12x zoom and the live histogram. Mine has taught me lots about photography.

Finepix A400

If the "!ZOOM ERROR" message is displayed on the digital camera, switch the camera off and on again 2 or 3 times.
If this does not clear the error, take the camera to your nearest FUJIFILM Service Station for testing and repairs. Problem may caused by lens zooming gears stuck.
