Question about Brother MFC-7820N Printer

I need instructions for scanning and setting up scan on MFC-7820N

I am have this printer since long now and am not able to setup the scanning option.

 

Various times I need to scan document into my computer and send it through email. I don't have instructions for operations and setup.

 

Can anybody provide this information?

    do i have to download a program into my computer to make the scanning part work. it also says check cable. which cable???

    I also have the same problem with scanning. Mine says check cable everytime I want to scan something.....HELP!!!!! What should I do.

I have hp officejet j4660. when I try to scan, the message appear: no scan options, refer to device documentation to troubleshoot


no scan option means scan setting are not set on the printer. Before you can scan directly from the printer control panel, you must have the printer's Full Feature software package installed on your computer .If you ran the installer and installed everything,then scanner software should be installed on the pc.there must be solution center icon on the computer,as well.Below are the troubleshooting steps for no scan options issue.   • if this is what you have,then you should transfer all items on the left- hand side to the right-side by clicking on one item and clicking on add until everything is transferred.click on update device.

Which software to scan ?

You need the full package to use the scanner.

To scan a picture or document, follow these steps: Step one: Load the item to scan You can scan from the scanner glass or from the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) tray, if your product has one.
  1. Make sure that the product is connected to the computer.
  2. Turn the product on.
  3. Load the picture or document:
    • Scanner glass : Place the item with the print side down on the scanner glass, and then position it according to the engraved guides around the glass (usually on the right-front corner or the left-front corner). Close the scanner lid.
    • ADF : Place the item into the document feeder tray. The printed side faces up and the top edge goes into the tray first. Adjust the width guides to fit the item. CAUTION: Do not load photos in the ADF. Use the scanner glass instead to prevent damage to photos.
Step two: Scan the item
  1. Open HP Solution Center with one of the following methods:
    • Click Start , click All Programs , click the HP folder, and then click HP Solution Center
    • Double-click the HP Solution Center icon (c01810967.gif ) on your desktop.
  2. If you have more than one HP device installed, click the tab or icon for the product that you are using to scan.
  3. Use one of the following methods to start the scan:
    • For photos or artwork : Click the on-screen Scan Picture "button" in HP Solution Center.
    • For a text document with or without graphics : Click the on-screen Scan Document "button" in HP Solution Center.
    A screen displays to prompt for scan settings. If a settings screen does not display before the scan starts, a preference was set to bypass the prompt. To adjust settings, follow these steps to turn the prompt back on:
    1. Cancel the scan, return to the home screen of HP Solution Center, and then click the Settings option.
    2. For the HP Solution Center "button" that you are using ("Scan Picture" or "Scan Document"), set the option to prompt for settings each time you scan, and then click OK .
    3. Start the scan again.
  4. Read through the various options for the scan settings. Make selections for at least the following items:
    • Scan to: Select your scan destination from the drop-down list.
    • File Type: Select the file type from the drop-down list.
    • ...Save Options...: (available only for certain "Scan to" destinations): For example, if you are saving to a file, click this option to select your Save Location .
    • Show preview...: Select this check box if you want to see a preview before the actual scan.

put the document or image you want to scan in your scanner
then choose the option of scan from the printer or from ur computer
it will ask you for various setting and after you have completed with them
choose scan now

How do I scan something from my wireless printer to my computer


There are two options.

Option 1
Make sure your computer is on. Insert the document you want to scan. Click on the scan button on the printer. The document will automatically be scanned and saved in your computer in mydocument under mypicture->my scans folder.

Option 2
Insert the document which you want to scan in the scanner. From your computer invoke HP Solutions Center. There you will see options to scan the document.

Please note for both the options you must have installed all the softwares which came with your printer.

My hp 5610 had problem re-installng the software after my computer crashed (permanently locked up). I had none of the options - nothing available. I finally got it to scan and print, etc but now it wont...


Uplug the USB cable from the back of the computer;
Clisk on Start- Run- (type in) Services.msc
Look for Windows Installer - Double click on it make it automatic and started;
If the OS is Win Xp
Go to Microsoft .com and download Windows Installer 4.5

Slelect : WindowsXP-KB942288-v3-x86.exe 3.2 MB
Click on Download and save it on your desktop
Run it on your system.
Then insert the installation cd:
Goto My computer - Right click on the hp setup icon - click on explore - Click on Util - Click on CCC - There you would find a File named Uninstallation L3 double click on it .
It will completely uninstall the software; Restart the computer; reinstall the software; In the recommended option
Try to scan from HP solution center;
Click on "Scan Document"
It will give the various options
Select it from there and try to scan it sould resolve the problem
If Still the issue remains
Click on start - Run - (Type in) Macromed - click on flash - and there double click on Flashutil and it will update the flash after it completes RESTART your computer

No scan options say refer to device documention to trouble shoot


Try ths:
This happens mainly when you try to scan from the printer ;
Always try to scan from HP solution center but still here is the resolution:
Open Hp Solution center
Click on Settings
Click on scn settings
click on Scan to Setup
Select all the option available to updrade the Front panel menu list and click on ADD
Click on Update;
Restart the computer and the printer and try to scan.
It should resolve the issue.

Unable to scan


Make sure you have microsoft word installed i you computer.
But if you want to scan a document you can also scan it to HP Document Viewer.

First open solution center/HP Director and try to scan from document> then in the optin which says where do you want to send the scanned image> click on the drop down and check to see yu have the option of word> if yes select the option of word and try to scan.

If not Open HP Solution center/HP Director and go to settings> Scan settings> Scan to setup> Go to> Destination List> And click on Restore defaults and check to see if you have the option of word in the availabe list and front panel destination list> then click on apply ad ok and close all the windows and then try and check to see if you get the option of scan to word.

HP scanner problem


Ok - the reason this error pops up is because there is a software issue going on. If the software is correctly installed you will see options for where the scan will go in the computer.
Having said that there are several things that can cause a problem between the printer and the software;
1) You are connecting the printer by USB to router - you may print but will never be able to scan as this is not a networkable printer. Connect it directly to your computer and recomplete the setup portion to configure the scanner.
2) You have not finished the setup. At the end of the installer you can setup the scanner but if you skipped this step you will have to redo it in order for it to connect. Click on the device manager in your dock and then next to information and settings there will be a little wheel. Click on the wheel and go to setup assistant. Complete the assistant and try to scan.
3) The printer is not grabbing the new software options - leave the printer turned on but unplug the power cord and wait for 30 seconds. Plug printer back in - when you do this it should initialize and will look to the mac for changes and the options should load.
4) Software missing - You MUST have the software for the printer installed for scanning function. Adobe and other programs cannot replace it - it has to be installed.
5) Software is corrupted. Uninstall the software (uninstaller is under applications in the HP folder) and then download (www.hp.com) and install the most recent full feature software and drivers for your operating system.
6) If all these steps fail you may have an issue with your computer and it's TWAIN drivers.
