The message is clear. You cannot use the card.
You can check the manufacturer's website to see if there a new firmware. If there, is update the firmware (anyway) and hope it will support the card format. If there is no new firmware, read the manual for the type of cards and capacities supported and buy compatible cards. The old card can be returned to the store, sold to someone, or saved for future devices.

You are correct. SD and SDHC are not the same.

Your camera will accept a maximum SD card capacity of 2GB. It simply isn't capable of handling anything of a larger capacity and in particular is incompatible with the more technically advanced SDHC cards.

Your fix is to either replace your camera with a later model or to stick to using SD cards with a maximum 2GB capacity.

SDHC stands for Secure Digital High Capacity. It was a technical evolution which broke the 4GB maximum capacity of SD cards and allows up to 32GB. In turn they are eventually due to be superseded by SDXC cards (ecure Digital eXtended Capacity) which allow a maximum of 2TB.

What is the maximum SD capacity that jvc everio gz mg57 can support?

You may use any size SD card. Bear in mind that SD cards only go up to 2GB. This camera will not work with higher-capacity SDHC cards.

What does it mean when I get a message that says "please insert memory card" on my JVC Everio GZ-MG21U?

Make sure you're using an SD card, not a higher-capacity SDHC card. The GZ-MG21U works with SD cards, not with SDHC cards.

Hi I inserted a new 8GB sd and the camera keeps trying to re-format. GZ-MC 200

There are no 8GB SD cards. A card that size is actually an SDHC card. SD and SDHC cards fit the same slots, but they are slightly different. Many cameras won't work with the SDHC (high capacity) cards. SDHC is not backwards compatible.

Unless your manual specifically says that your camera can use an SDHC card, then it won't be able to. The maximum size of an SD card is 2GB. If you need more space, just carry a couple of cards and swap them, like people used to do when they filled up a film.

Hi i cant find out what the maximum size micro sd card i can use in my jvc evario gz-mg365

The official line from JVC is

To record video, a microSDHC card with Class 4 or higher performance is required. microSD memory cards (256MB to 2GB) and microSDHC memory cards (4GB) have been tested for the following brands: Panasonic, Toshiba, SanDisk, ATP. No others have been officially tested and can therefore be guarenteed to work

I have a brand new JVC GZ-MS100 and a brand new card

The 32GB SDHC card may be a "class 4" card, not a "Class 6".

Look at the card and find the circle with a number in it.
Class 6 is the highest speed available. Class 4 is much slower and can't keep up with video.

Not all 32GB sdhc cards work with all camcorders.

Try formatting the card twice in the JVC.

What kind of card is best

The MPEG2 recording can be used in various quality levels, with 8.5 to 5.5 Mbps constant bit rate and 4.2 and 1.5 MBit / s with a variable bit rate recording.

The read / write speed is 20480 kb/s (SanDisk data).

It's enough!

I have a JVC Everio GZ-MG21EK Camcorder can anyone tell me the maximum sd card that you can use with this camcorder

There is no limit beyond the limits of the SD cards themselves. The JVC Everio GZ-MG21EK camera DOES NOT support SDHC cards, so you are restricted to the smaller capacities of the non-SDHC SD cards. I am successfully using a 2GB SD card in this model.
