Question about Kenmore 95002 / 95004 Electric Kitchen Range

Oven does not heat to proper temperature

My oven does not heat to the proper temperature.  I placed two temperature data loggers in the oven and placed it at 300 degrees.  After 30 minutes it reached 200 degrees and after 1 hour and 15 minutes it peaked out at 248 degrees.  Any suggestions or ideas?

Thank you,

Jeff

Just replaced the sensor on my Kenmore oven 790.9622. Unfortunately this did not solve the problem. Despite setting the oven to, say, 425, it only preheats to 350 - almost like it is ignoring my temp setting and defaulting to the 350 initial setting.

I have a GE convection range and the oven does not heat to the proper temperature both in bake and convection. For example, the oven will be set to 350 and the oven thermometer will say 375. I have tried to manually adjust the temperature like the book says and it will go either too high or too low. A repair man told me that it was the control PC board assembly. Will this work? I am afraid of spending 200. dollars for this and this will not fix the problem.

How long do I bake an 8lb shoulder pork roast?

hi Dianna.
Roast in a preheated 500 degree (F) oven for 20 minutes. Reduce heat to 300 degrees and roast for an additional 30 minutes per pound. Total cooking time for an 8lb roast should be about 4hrs and 20 minutes. Remove the pork roast from the oven and let rest for 30 minutes

I lost the instructions on how to bake my Lil' Cupcake 1st Birthday Signature Plate from Celebrate Express. All the signatures are there, I just need to know what temperature to set the oven and how to...

I found the answer for this (I was looking too and saw your post) today on the company site that made the plate. it was in the FAQ section - but choose the link under the question about using the paint pen. Here's what it said:

Once paint is dry, it is smudge proof to the touch and safe for travel, but it is not yet permanent.

To make permanent, once your personalization is complete, allow paint to dry for 24 hours.

After 24 hours, place the item in a room temperature oven and then heat oven to 300 degrees, so that the item heats slowly along with the oven.

Once oven reaches 300 degrees, bake item for 35 minutes and then turn oven off.

Allow item to cool to room temperature inside the oven, at which time it may be removed.

Paint is now permanent, food and dishwasher safe!

Hope this helps!

Microwave now takes ~2x longer to heat up and is steaming up inside

Place a 1/2 litre of water in a plastic microwaveable container. Record its temperature and place it in the microwave. Microwave on full power for 1 minute. Leave for 30 seconds and measure the temperature again.
If the temperature rise is at least 10 degrees Centigrade, the magnetron is fine.

It takes 28 minutes for the oven to reach temperature of 375 degrees. The ready buzzer goes off in about 15 minutes. The temperature is 300 degrees. Is there any adjustments to be made.

what is your oven if is gas or electric, if is gas easy to preheat by using lower heating element, if electric? that your unit have convection? or not? coz some probelm of the oven is, 1 if the oven is no convection or your oven is single heating in upper element,if your oven have a timer and cut off in 15minute? dont use timer, use a manual timer by it your self,if you want to reach the degrees that you want check your oven if der a lower and upper heating element with convection function, that the one is the most easy way to reach the degree that you want to reach.

Oven does not maintain a consistent temperature

Is this oven gas or electric? If it is gas then it can be normal to see 30 to 50 degrees difference in tempature. The tempature in a gas oven works on the average tempature. For example: The oven tempature may rise all the way up to 370 degrees. Then the burner will shut off. And then the tempature can drop all the way to 330 degrees. Then take 330 and add that to 370 then divide that number by two and the average tempature will be 350. If your oven is electric then the tempature should be much more consistant but can have a 10 to 15 degree variance. Also the standard oven tempature guage that you put in the oven or even the temp guage built into the oven are not very accurate. We us a Fluke meter with a thermocouple to calibrate an oven. So to check your oven for proper tempature regulation you will first need to let the oven pre-heat for about 15 minutes. Then place the thermocouple in the center of the oven. If the oven is electric the take a temp reading every 5 minutes and average them out. If the oven is gas then you will need to take a temp reading when the tempature reaches it's highest and lowest points. Take at least 5 consectutive readings and average them out. You should get an average within 10 degrees of set temp(350 degrees). If it is off by 35 degrees or less you can usually caluibrate the thermostat back to proper temp. This procedure can be different for each range model. If it is more than 35 degrees off or you are getting irratic readings then the thermostat or thermostat components might need to be replaced.

My gas oven will not heat up above 300 degrees and

You may have 2 problems.
One. The temperature sensor could be bad. You can remove the temperature sensor and check it with a ohm meter. It should read 1050 to 1150 ohms. If not. It is bad.
Two. The glowbar ignitor could be bad and not igniting the gas safety valve.Open the bottom drawer of the oven and set the oven to bake. The burner should light in 60 seconds or less. Re-light should be about 30 seconds or less.
If it takes longer the ignitor is bad.

Tappan Oven #MEF500PBWD heating unevenly

Perhaps the item you are using to check temperatures is not accurate. I my line of work, I use a digital thermometer which records immediate temperature. Perhaps understanding the process will help you see more accuracy in the way you read the temperature in your oven. Allow me to offer this explanation....First of all, place your thermometer near on the top rack as close to the oven temperature probe as possible. This probe is the focal point for your oven and detects the temperature and opens the electrical circuit to turn off the element when the desired set temperature is attained. Set your electric oven to 300 degrees and hopefully, you have a window in your oven to watch. The bake element will come on and the temperature will rise until it reaches 300 degrees. It is at this point when your oven bake indicator light should go out. When this happens....look inside. The element is still bright orange and emitting heat and will continue to raise the temperature in the oven to approximately 325 - 340 degrees. With this noted, you will see the temperature beginning to drop 315, 310, 300, 295, 290, 285 perhaps even 280 or some even lower to 275 and then the indicator lamp will go on indicating the circuit has closed thus turning on the element, Finally there is a variance and no range GAS or ELECTRIC will ever maintain a even 300 degree temperature. The calibration set point is based on the 300 degrees. If your oven light goes off within 20-25 degrees of three hundred degrees, your oven is already calibrated pretty close and I would not attempt to adjust it at all.
