TCL MODEL L40FHDP60 TV GOES ON HOURS AFTER PRESSING THE POWER BUTTON

I press the button on the television to turn it on and the red light goes out like it is going to turn on but doesn't turn on for hours after sometimes. Sometimes when the power button is pressed the red light goes out like the tv is going to turn on then goes back out. Have to keep pressing the power button until the red light goes out and stays out until the tv turns on hours later. Sometimes the tv wont turn on until 8 hours later after pressing power button and red light goes out.

SOURCE: Power on problem for My Syntax Olevia LCD TV 23"

I have a 24" Olevia LCD TV. Same symptoms (Stdby LED is on, press power and it flashes off, then back on). The USB cable to the Service Port also worked. But being of sound technical mind, I figured this means that the PC is supplying the +5v to the circuit. What I did was disassebled the TV, carefully disconnected all the cables, and opened it up to reveal the circuitry. I looked over the circuit and noticed the 1000uf/16v capacitor at position CS21 was failed and bulging. I removed the cap, tested it and verified that it was indeed failed. I went to a local Radio Shack and picked up a 1000uf/35v electrolytic, after all, the value is what mainly matters as long as it's not lower voltage than the original. I replaced the new CS21 capacitor back in the circuit (it is polarity sensitive, so pay attention to what the original mounting position is). I reassembled the TV and Viola! Works! No need for the USB cable to the Service Port!

I hope this helps someone!

SOURCE: does not turn on

Most likely a blown capacitors. Take off the cover and examine the capacitors on the main power board. If they are bulging or leaking they need to be replaced.

Won't program to our new TCL television - we have the 222 receiver

I don't show we have a code for the TCL (Australia) brand TV. Below I have provided instructions on how to perform a power scan.

  • Remote: Basic Remote (Television Only)
    1. Turn the Television On.
    2. Press and hold the clear TV button for three seconds until the LED flashes.
    3. Press and release the red TV Power button.
    4. Press and release the Up or Down Arrow on the remote until the television turns off.
    5. After the television turns off, press and release the # button.
    6. Test functionality with the TV.
    7. Return to Step 2 if the remote is not able to turn the TV On/Off, change the volume and mute the television.

CODE FOR TCL TV UNIVERSAL REMOTE CONTOL-CHUNGHOP RM -133E

If you don't have a code you can do these steps to get your universal remote working with pretty much any tv:

1.) Turn your TV on. Then on your remote press the set button, it's the small gray button above the green button that says TV.

2.) Press the TV button. There should be a red light to the right of the SET button. This means that your remote is ready for the TV code.

3.) To find the TV code, press the + or - on your remote. This is located above the orange buttons. Once the volume on your TV goes up or down, stop pressing the + or - button.

4.) Then press the SET button again to set that code for your TV.

If the above steps do not work, keep trying. It will work! ;)
