My tilt button is stuck on and it will not latch. I tried to pry the button out with a knife but it still won't work. head moves up and down just will not lock. reset button will not work either.
You will most likely have to take this apart to get it out again. Over all not really that hard.....about 6 screws to get the top off. If you don't want to go that route the only suggestion I have is to get a really strong magnet and try to manipulate it out with that.

Instructions say to "press" (push in) the head tilt button. If the button wont move, try moving head up and down while applying pressure to the button.
To raise the head you move the locking lever back & lift the front of the motor unit up. To lower it you also move the locking lever to the back and then lower the head and release or push the locking lever forward to lock the head down while using it.

Well I afraid that you will not like the answer. The locking latch on a tilt head mixer can only be fixed replaced or repaired by taking the motor head apart. The bottom from the top.
1 remove mixer from stand 2 remove silver drip ring 3 remove rear end cap 4 remove locking pin in the planetary 5 remove planetary 6 remove nine screws in bottom of mixer 7 separate top from bottom of motor head 8 do not tear gasket or you will have to replace it (buy on line) 9 inspect locking latch and tighten or replace as needed 10 check gear grease and replace if all hard or all runny 11 reassemble
Sorry this is not an easy fix but it is do-able. You will need throw away rags a nice flat work space and some patience. I f you have never done a mechanical fix to anything it should take you about two hours, if however you are mechanically inclined and not afraid to tackle new projects should take you about forty-five minutes. let us know if we can help you.

About one inch to the lower right of the Latch Lever (17) is the
Latch Bearing Screw (15). Use a small flat head screwdriver and
tighten that screw. Just don't tighten too much or the Latch (10)
won't be able to move up and down as intended.
If the bolt is the hinge pin that the head swivels on when tilting it up, it can be pushed back in when the head latch is released and the mixer head is lifted slightly.
The height of the beater is easy to adjust on the tilt-head model. Tilt the head back, and look into the pivot from the front of the mixer. You should see a screw on the hinge. With a flat blade screwdriver, rotate this screw half a turn counter-clockwise to raise the beater height. Lower the head and check that the beater does not touch the bowl. Repeat until the adjustment is satisfactory. To lower the beater closer to the bowl, turn the screw clockwise instead.
Okay, we just figured this out ourselves.
There is a little hole on the neck of the mixer, where the mixer motor meets the neck. While pushing the tilt release button, stick a small screwdriver into the hole (it will not go far) and pry the latch upward. While holding the latch up and the tilt button, have someone pull up on the motor while holding down the base. It might take a little muscle, but after that, the motor will be able to tilt back and forth like it did before it got stuck. If you are the one holding the tilt button and latch, please wach your finger so they don't get pinched when the motor swings up.
