Maytag Dryer What do I have to do to vent my dryer on the side instead of the back. There is a cut out on the side of the dryer for it.

No! You would have to cut the cabinet and modify.

read the manual, it could go out on sides and at the back

Make sure the vent is not clogged. Its in the bottom of back side. Typically vented outside. Also, verify your heater elements are working by running dryer with door open to check for heat

Most dryers have that option but not on the left side. You will need to cut a hole in the left side dryer housing. Then you will need to dis-assemble the back panel of the dryer and disconnect the vent pipe connection inside the dryer. Then run the moisture vent into the dryer housing from the left side opening and connect it to the venting system inside the dryer. You might not be able to put the opening in the same spot as the right side so you should do a visual inspection inside the dryer before making the opening to verify nothing is in the way.

You would have to remove the back panel. Remove the existing vent pipe, install a 90 deg elbow of the same size diameter. Then cut a hole in the right or left side of the dryer cabinet that would line up with the new elbow.
Check the side cabnet of your dryer, it appears on the diagram that there may be a 4" knock out for a side exit vent.

you want to vent of of the base of the dryer, directly down? None of the maytag/whirlpool line can handle this anymore. Only side vent options. GE may still be able to bottom vent. no dryer is really made for it out of the factory but some can be converted to it with a kit. usually if they can there will be a knock out panel for the duct in that place. GEs heater is on back wall making more room on the base for this kind of thing.

There will be an indented area about 4 inches in diameter if your able to put one in easily. Other wise you'll need either a hole saw 4" or cut a hole in the side of the dryer but before you do make sure your inside piping will reach the new area you want to come from.
Another suggestion would be make a base for your dryer to set on 6 to 8" high cut a hole in the side of it and in the top where you can run the dryer hose through then continue on outside with the hose-vent.

how long is dryer vent run ? does it go up or out to the side ? Sounds like the dryer vent is clogged. A long run on your vent will also cause this problem with a small amount of lint. Try cleaning out your lint screen on the dryer vent they can get pretty caked up with lint. If you have a long dryer vent run post back the length and direction and I will get you the maximum length for your specific run. You may need a booster fan if it is excessively long or straight up as through the roof.
