I have Windows 8 on my PC (which by the way I hate). Anyway, I just bought this machine from a person and it is brand new. It had never been removed from the packaging. I bought it for machine embroidery. When trying my first project, I keep getting an F1 error code after making only a few stitches. I will hit the start button again and it will give me the same code again. It says my thread is broken on top or my bobbin is empty which neither is so. I am so frustrated! I have changed my USB cord to a different port to the back instead of the front which I see was suggested. I see that you have discussed this issue with Windows 7 but not Windows 8. What can I do?

Hi beelermary,
Do you replace the needle with same type as what you used before? If the needle fitted in reverse way it can't catch the thread from the bobbin, re-insert the needle again and turn it 180 degree from its original position.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

Is this in embroidery mode or sewing mode? It may be the top tension is off (in my experience knots on bottom is bobbin issue, knots on top is upper tension issue).
