Lotus 123 problems

I am using LOTO207 under XP. I am converting to the 8.1 operating system. 1st question is whether any version of Lotus123 will run under 8.1? Assuming the answer is "NO", can I load Excel and somehow convert individual 123 files on my new computer to Excel? If so, what procedure would I use?

You can directly open lotus123 files into excel of any version. I don't think microsoft has stopped this feature. It automatically imports the data into an excel file.

Have you tried to update your Adobe from their website? Could solve the problem. Could also be a problem when you loaded them from Filezilla. Under properties on the file, maybe selecting the version of program you want to open it could help.

How do i install lotus123 ver 9.8.2 on windows 7 pro computer

I do not know which version of lotus you have, but it is very doubtful it will run on a Windows 7 system which is a 16/32 bit system. Wikipedia says that up to release 4 it ran under DOS, Release 5 was for windows 3.1, 97 edition ran on Windows 95 and millenium edition 98 released in 2002 was the last edition. If you have 97 edition or later it MIGHT run, but better probably to get a copy of Excel.

Microsoft Excel should open your old Lotus files.
Go to File > Open > Select Files of type: Lotus (*.wk?) and select your Lotus file.

Alternatively you could install and use OpenOffice spreadsheet or LibreOffice Calc and open your Lotus files.

Not an answer for you exactly but why continue to use Lotus Notes? Is there something it can do that no other current and supported software is capable of?

Try Open Office or Libre Office. You may need to convert or redo some old documents. Convert now before you get even further behind and possible lose the ability to convert them at all.

Cannot open program. Error message "Lotus 123 Application has encountered a problem and needs to close". Worked fine last week.

Are you running Lotus Notes as well? There is a known compatibility issue and a patch for this.

Have you upgraded or installed new software recently ? Version 9.5 is not the latest version and has some issues with newer software.

I am a dedicated Lotus 123 user for many years. I have many critical files in Lotus and would like to be able to search them through Google Desktop. Can someone PLEASE tell me if this is possible...

You probably have to convert them to Excel files. This can be done within Excel by starting Excel and then opening or importing your Lotus files into Excel and then saving them from Excel. Probably not the answer you wanted but would work.
