Power light blinking mean that the internal power supply is not working correctly. Often the internal power supply itself need to be repaired ( usually a one hour work if spare parts available).

A routined pro must be able to tell you within short time cost of repair and spare parts. Up to you to then decide wether or not have this set repaired. Be aware a pro will ask you a fee for this service, even you don't want the set to be repaired. You can save some cost if you bring your TV set yourself to the repair-shop.
The kind of problem is not really age-related; if your TV is running daily 16 hours, with many on/off switching, and particularly in a cool place can degrade some components within warranty time.
