I need to replace the valve assembly on my Kenmore refrigerator (Sears model number 795.75192401). I have the part but I can't figure out how to get the tubing to uncouple from the inlet nor from the outlet to the water reservoir without breaking the plastic. What's the "trick" to getting them apart without breaking them?

Re: Kenmore refrigerator water dispenser
Where the tube goes into the vavle there should be a compression fitting if I understand your description. It looks like a little ring may be blue or red. Push in on that fitting while pulling the hose out at the same time. To reinstall just push the tube into the fitting all the way until you feel it seat. Let me know if this helps or you have a different set up.

You may need to replace the dual water control valve due to only the water dispenser side of the water control valve being the only side that works. What is the model number of your Kenmore refrigerator? Kenmore model numbers look like this=> 321.235689 as an example. An example of the water control valve if your model number was 321.235689 is part number=> 12001414 Water Inlet Valve
Don't use this example as the correct part. Look around the fresh food section door frame for your correct model number, Thanks Sea Breeze Testing the Water Control Valve
Your water control valve is defective and will need to be replaced. Even though you hear the electrical part of the valve turn off the mechanical part of the control valve is stuck open causing water to continue to flow. What is your model number? Kenmore model numbers look like this example=> 312.234567 If you can find your model number I will show you the replacement part number, Thanks Sea Breeze
Don't know what is the model number of your fridge. 1.Need check electric water valve under the fridge. If that fridge made by GE (Kenmore just a Sears brand name and they use several others manufacturers for refrigeration), usually it's a frozen plastic water supply line inside freezer door. You could unplug fridge for 24 hours (you have to put food from freezer to other freezer).
Most likely the dual water control valve is not opening to allow the water to the dispenser if that is your meaning. Now if you mean water for both dispenser and ice maker then that would change everything. See if you can locate the model number that Sears puts on the door frame near floor. The fresh food section door at base and the number will look like this example 312.256489 With that number I can see everything your side by side came with and tell you the parts and locations. You also can have someone test voltage going to the water control valves while someone presses the dispense water switch. And with a voltage meter set to OHM's test the coils on the dual water control valves for resistance and if one has a very different number that can tell you. So we have several things to look for, water supply, dual water control, (if one works and other will not) and model number, Let me know what you find, Sea Breeze
If pressure there it could mean anything may be possible. I need the Sears Model Number. If the water valve on rear of refrigerator does not open then water will not exit the dispenser. Sometimes water is frozen in the dispenser water container located inside the fresh food. Sears Numbers Look Like this (231.564897) for example
compartment. And sometimes it is the dispenser controls. I will need your Kenmore Model Number to tell you the part you need and to help you better. Thank You, Sea Breeze http://servicepartstec.blogspot.com/
Turn the water supply off to the back of refrigerator and take the line feeding the supply to the water control valves off and then put the line into a pan to purge any trash that may have collected before entering control valve. It is very possible that a piece of rust or a piece of plastic is holding the control valve open slightly. The continuous dripping of the chilled water is what I suspect is causing the condensate. On bottom of the refrigerator Sears uses a number like this example. You may find the number behind the cold food section door near floor. I will need that to help you better. Example 215.22897
Sears always gives their models a different number than the same models that GE, Whirlpool, Westinghouse and on and on. When you are able to see if the valve is stuck and need to clean or replace it we will need your model like in the example to find the correct part, Let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze
If there is a lot of water dripping and I guess there is since you had to turn the water off, you need to replace the dual solenoid valve to cure your problem. You did not post your model number so it is not possible for me to say if you have more than one valve assembly in your refrigerator. If you have 2 separate valve assemblies you will need to disconnect the lines one at a time to locate the correct valve to replace. I hope this helped you. supertechks
