I have an alureon J trojan horse in my laptop. My microsoft Security Essentials can't remove it so they had me download the Microsoft Malware removal tool. That didn't work either.
Just try Quick Heal Total Security , it is available at www.quickheal.com 1 month full functional trial is available.
it is the best ever anti malware/ antispyware/antivirus software
I know about a virus program at www.malwarebytes.org. Some say it's great. I had it and it found a lot of trojan horse virus.
They have a free version you can try. Be very careful typing the addr in and don't forget the .org.
hope this helps

Is this running XP? Does the computer shut down or just go back to the welcome screen and ask for your password again?
If it returns to the welcome screen (and it is XP) get the following two files from another xp machine and copy them to the windows\system32 folder.
userinit.exe wsaupdater.exe
Restart the computer and log back in.
Hope this helps
SOURCE: HD infected, run external anti-virus, still logs off instantly
Restart the laptop and tap F8 to get into safe mode and click on administrator. Go to the control panel > users > and create another user, log off administrator and reboot. When system reboots, it will give you a choice of which user to log to, pick the new one and run internal scans with the programs below. Download and install....run their updates and perfrom a quick check only. With CCleaner, run cleaner and then registry fix.

Go to download.com and download avast antivirus free addion, scroll down! until you see it. Remove old antivirus from your system first, the program will give you 30 days to register, after that you are covered for one year free. Run a full scan when updated.
