Question about JVC KD-SX770 CD Player
Hello, there. I recently acquired a late 90's Toyota Corolla with a JVC KD-SX770 stereo/CD player. The radio works fine, but it will not play CDs. When I insert the CD, the player tries to read it (at least I assume it does--it just says "PLAY" with no track number or other info showing) but then gives me the "please eject" message. I checked to see if I had the CD upside down, inserting it face up and then face down. I've tried both burned CDs and original copies. I don't know what else to do, short of installing a new stereo.
Any thoughts? Does this happen often with this particular model?
Thanks in advance,
Barbara
I'm having the same issues w/mine. I've cleaned the connections between the system & the faceplate & tried the reset button but neither seem to work. As for running a cd cleaner disc thru the system.. it treats it the same as a normal cd.... 3 to 6 seconds after inserting it, "please eject cd" pops up on the screen... it's annoying as anything

Hello beeswing70,
The player is recognizing that a CD has been inserted but is not able to read it.
Sometimes the lens assembly becomes contaminated and obscures the laser. I'd try using a commercial "lens cleaning CD" two or three times and then try a CD again. These lens cleaning CD's are widely available. If cleaning does not help, the player need professional service.
Hope this helps.
