On my Lux7000 the vacume says the bag is full and tuns off right away but the bage is new. If I don't have the hose on it will run but if it has even a little restriction it stops. The only way I have been able to bypass is to block the exost off.
IT'S THE CONTROL VALVE, IT'S LOCATED UNDER THE DIAL ON TOP OF THE MACHINE.
IT'S A CLEAR PLASTIC VALVE THAT SEVERAL CLEAR HOSES ATTACH TO. YOU CAN BUY ONE AT AN AERUS/ELECTROLUX DEALER. I'VE POSTED HOW TO OPEN UP THE VAC ELSE WHERE ON THIS SITE IF YOU CHOOSE TO DO IT YOURSELF.

The light on the top of the 7000 that represents a "key" as you state it, is actually a "No Bag" light. That means to check the bag compartment for a bag. Replace if you do not see one. Close the door, push the start button, and voila....it will start. If it doesn't , make sure the bag top (cardboard) is flush inside. It may be missing the bag switch. Hope that helps!
Years ago I used to sell and demo kirbys up to the G-5 model,I believe you have to sit in front of your vacume, raise the wheels as high as they can go and on the logo face tun the crank one way, this loosens the belt and give a little tug and the roller sucking chamber will drop.Pull the chamber away.,now take your hose and stick it over the shaft and lock it down with the wing nut and then you can use all your vacume attachments.UNLESS YOUR TALKING - vacume bag hose- this is just a simple twist and click on the vacume exhaust chamber. Now if your hose is unhooked in your vacume bag it self, you will have to get a new bag attachment or get a repair man to look at it.
For the user's/owner's manual, go to the below link, click on the arrow below where it says "Older Models", click on Lux 7000, click on "download". If you want a service manual, they are only available to Aerus Electrolux stores.
For retracting the cord, try tipping vacuum up on it's back end and gently pulling and releasing cord. This will often cause it to retract. If not, keep in mind that the canister portion of this vacuum has a 7 year warranty on it, so depending on when you purchased it, the cordwinder may still be covered. The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, or abuse. There are other things that will void the warranty.
If the bag full light keeps coming on, you can first try adjusting the dial on top of the vacuum cleaner. If that does not work, then you need to change the control valve. This is an internal component of the canister and is directly below the dial. You will need to follow the instructions on a previous post to open the Electrolux plastic canister vacuum, and remove the bage cage. Once you remove the bage cage you can change the control valve, and this will solve your problem with the bag full indicator.
Some manufactures, like electrolux have to bring in parts from overseas, making lead times a real issue. I do understand your frustrations, as this is something I deal with every day. BUT there is hope... I am including a link to Electrolux's web site, and a dealer locater, try putting in your zip code, and possibly zip codes for cities that you wouldn't mind traveling to.
Make sure the bag is in place correctly. The question mark light indicates that there isn't a bag in the machine. There is a small button in the front of the bag housing that is depressed by the cardboard top of the bag. I think it is located in the bottom right hand of the bag housing if you are facing the front of the machine. Make sure the bag is depressing this actuator when the front of the machine is closed. If it is, it may be an internal problem with the switch. Good Luck!!
The part that you call the particle size sensetivity adjuster is bad. There are 2 seals in the assembly, the lower seal is slipping out of place because the plastic lip which keeps it in place is broken. Split housings and replace part. This machine is alot of work to take appart and get back together correctly. Might want to bring to local vac shop. good luck.
