When i try to sign in to go online a message appears saying there was an error connecting to the server, this is a DNS error 80710102 but my pc is fine
Might be a router issue, specifically the firewall. you might wanna click on network (ing) and select the router. See if you can manually add the ps3's address as a local access point on your router/ modem. you can access the ps3's ip address in system info, which i'm sure you know. maybe take the firewall down temporarily, by setting it to off, to see if this is blocking the ps3 from accessing the network. does the ps3 need any more configuring, vis a vis the network configuration? Do you need to subscribe to the PS network to access it? I don't have a PS3, but my psp works fine, as well as my 360. Try this and tell me if it works out, or if you need any other clarifications for arising issues. and remember to enable the firewall back up whether or not it works.

It
seems like the DNS error is generally caused by problems on your ISP's
end of the network, but that doesn't mean you can't have a crack at
fixing it yourself.
Under your network connection settings try changing the DNS servers to the following numbers (they're free by the way)
Primary DNS 208.67.222.222
Secondary DNS 208.67.220.220
Also, try disabling media server connection as well. These simple steps should, in 90% of cases, fix the problem.
The "DNS error 80710102" is an error displayed on the Sony Playstation when attempting to connect to the Internet. It's a known problem for Playstation users, but the answer is to disable universal plug-n-play on the router.
see i hav the same prob try putting this in
primary dns 208.67.222.222
secondary dns 208.67.220.220
ip address 192.168.1.45
if that dont work people say u should unplug your router 4 a couple of minutes then plug it back in
Goto the command prompt bar in the start menu type ' cmd ' then click o.k . A black dos screen will appear type in ' ipconfig/all ' and it will the the two servers you need under dns servers but if your doing a wired connection to your ps3 then you need to manually configure your dns on the custom method of setting up your internet connection on your ps3 as if this is auto config that will give you a dns error. Hope that helps ,I can go into more detail and guide you through it if need to .
try mving your ps3 around into verous places around the room and try to find an internet connecion. you can go to settings, network settings, then settings and connection status list and it will show you how much internet you have.
