The problem may not be the board at all I have seen MANY times that the power button itself is either disconnected or just mot functioning. locate the 2 connecting pins on your motherboard leading to the power button, unplug the wile and using a screwdriver short between the two pins for a second, if this starts your system then you know the culprit.

I have a Dell Dimension 8400 Series desktop that is totally dead. Nothing happens when power button is pushed. Of course it is plugged into a live outlet.

Possibly a bad power supply. Could aslo be bad hardware.

Depeding on how save you are with computers, depends on how far you might want to go with this.

But remove everything one at a time and try to start the computer. Until all you have is a motherboard, processor, fan, and power supply hooked up. If you are still not getting any power, try to swap the power supply first. If that doesnt work then either Motherboard or Processor.

Lastly, swap the power cable out to see if its a bad cable.

Computer turn on, but when it does it won't POST

It seems like a motherboard issue. It heats up, thus is not able to turn on continuously. You may need to check internal parts embeded on the motherboard llike the fan and processor before you could know what needs replacement.

Nothing happens when I press the power button. No

What about the power supply? I bet it's supply's issue. Otherwise make sure that PWR button wires are connected properly and to the correct terminals of the motherboard

L440Gx server board do not boot

1: Check wether the on/off button on your power supply is turned to on.
2: Check your cables. Try switching with those from other pc's.
3: Check wether all the connections from power supply to the mainboard/ram/video/harddisk are OK.

Hope this helps,
Yannick

That mother board want reboot

lets say it like this...you have assambled..on  table...motherboard..,processor,memory hard drive...all conected to teh monitor (you have video on  board) and to the power suply.
If you get the power in a board with  a damaged processor...the board receive energy and ,depending of the problems of the processor..youl see a blu screen on monitor..or just hear some pcspeaker specific sounds..ussualy the msi mainboards come with a special feature called D bracket..it has some leds on it and indicates your problems...
however..if you have other problems than blue screen or sounds..and the board is totally silent..well it is a board fault...and here..the reasons of malfunctioning are a lot..
