JL Audio 250/1 blown power trans blown resistors possibly shorted transformer How do I test

You should get the schematic for it. I can tell if your reference to trans is for transistor or transformer. If you mean transistor, in that power circuit they are most likely http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Vishay-Siliconix/IRFZ44PBF/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMvARmQSk64rFx%252biHG2Aqv9T. See if you can see any references to the parts on the board. One of the others that fails often is: http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?qs=4kLU8WoGk0vGgdnitUP0Eg%3d%3d and

I have a jl 1000/1 mono amp and my low ohm light was on and making a buzzing sound and found that there was a resistor that one of the terminals broke off and now no matter where i look i cant find the...

The 5 ohm could be challenging, what you could try is to get 2 10ohm 3 watt and put them in parallel. Will be 5 ohm and 10ohm is easy to get

Hope that helps

JL 500/1 Problem

You need the old transistor. Knowing it's brown is not enough; you need to know its resistance value. It sounds like the resistor you replaced with has too low a resistance value, causing the "cuts" in sound. Find the old resistor and then use this site to find out what you need:

500/1 sub amp stopped working, burnt rubber smell

It sounds like the power supply failed. Generally when the supply fails in that amp, you have to replace all 8 of the power supply FETs and all 8 of the 47 ohm surface mount resistors. Many times, the supply fails because one or two of the output transistors have failed.

If you want to have JL repair it, you MUST go through an authorized JL dealer.

If you have a good local repair shop, they should be able to repair it.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Low ohm light on my jl 500/1

If the low impedance light is on, the amp probably has shorted output transistors. If you don't know of a good local repair shop, call 'several' of the local audio sales/installation shops to see who they use. If more than one audio shop recommends the same repair shop, they probably do good work.

Low ohm light wont go off

It's likely that the output transistors failed in the amplifier and it will need to be repaired.
