SOURCE: fridge not staying cold

Solo, firt make sure you do not have a build up of frost on the freezer inside panel. This would indicate a defrost problem. Your post states that the cooling problem is intermitant which leads me to believe that the automatic damper is at fault. It could have a build up of ice on it which is causing it to bind, or it could just be going bad. Your model does have the manual defrost timer which could be sticking at times, that is why I suggest checking the back freezer panel for frost buildup. Catriver..post back.

is it frozen up? do you have any air flow thru the air tunnel from the freeze to the fridge? Check your air flow with the door switch pushed in. also check to see if the damper door opens... 1) if it is iced up you have a defrost problem. most likely a defrost timer. Turn off or unplug untill all the ice has melted off the evaporator back of the freezer..plug back in and it will work fine untill the ice builds up again. if this work you do have a defrost problem.. if not let me know and we can go deeper...

SOURCE: fridge not staying cool, freezer still freezing

Try defrosting freezer, sometimes when the defrost thermostat fails it causes ice too build up behind the walls of the freezer then it restricts the air flow to the refer side. If it works after defrosting then you probably need to get a new defrost thermostat.

SOURCE: my fridge won't cool down or freeze

Your condenser is likely dirty clean it. the compressor could be tripped out on over load (to hot) unplug the fridge a couple hours should do it . plug it back in make sure the thermostat is on and set correctly if that does not work you will need service. Tom

SOURCE: Kenmore Elite Trio Refrigerator not cooling

No, it is not a failed condenser. You need to see if the compressor is running though. When it runs you shaould have a fan in the freezer running, a fan underneath the fridge running, and the compressor should be running. I would be willing to bet that either the compressor is bad, or the start relay on the compressor.

There is a class action lawsuit as them failing is a known issue. They have a 13 year lifespan according to this. The suit is still open.

If your door icemaker was working, you could blame a faulty evaporator fan in the fridge for it being warm or even an iced up evaporator coil. Considering nothing is as cold as it should be, a failing compressor or being low on refrigerant gas are the likely culprits. The article explains what the issue is, a plastic valve in the compressor that is known to fail. One engineer replaced 7 in a month and keeps a spare in the truck, BUT, the replacement is the same as the one that came out and has a the same plastic valve known to fail!

There is nothing further on the remote diagnostics.

Get rid of it and buy a different make, not LG or Kenmore. My GE fridge freezer is 23 years old and has only needed a defrost timer. Join the lawsuit.

Hi, my Hotpoint ff200e fridge freezer is cooling but not freezing, compressor wires are warm and compressor itself is quite warm, top fridge is not cooling enough, then the lights on control panel start...

Hi.. feel the dividing rdge between fridge and freezer.. is it warm?.. chances are that the little fan at the back of the fridge freezer that helps cool the compressor, has snagged own it's own wire... it's a weak fan, like you get in a computer, but it does a lot of work.. without it, the coolent does not do it's job, which results in your device not cooling things properly

Refrigerator/freezer stopped cooling during a heat wave

Good day,
Turning the thermostat to a warmer setting should not have caused the machine to quit cooling. Actually, the engineers give you far less leeway than you might think.
The controls are more in a class of fine tuning, otherwise people would be getting themselves into trouble. The manufacturers simply design the warm and cold parameters in a fairly narrow range.
The best setting is normal. When away, the machine will run far less simply because of no door openings. Opening a door lets in large amounts of air every time it's done, which is where your cost to run it exists.
Two things. One, if the temp in the kitchen exceeded 90 degrees for any length of time, you are operating it beyond it's design range, however two, it sounds as if the thermostat hung up, causing your issue. You may want to have it replaced, but it would be useless to call anyone when it's performing normally.
There is no test on thermostats other than by observing their action when the machine is not operating properly.

Oklahoma Freezer cold fridge warm fan gets Ice build up !

You should not have to manually defrost. Your auto defrost system is not working. Check the timer usuall in the frig compartment near the thermostat ( a small hole, use a screwdrive flat tip 1/4" to rotate the timer till it clicks starting the defrost cycle) check freezer in 10-15 min should be defrosted if not you will need to check the heater and thermostat located behind the rear or bottom panel of the freezer.

The defrost timer could be under the box in the front behind kick panel or in the rear by the compressor.

The outside metal around the freezer area is very warm.

We were informed that because of a lot of power outages and surges that the freezer was in constant defrost mode. Since the freezer had been in constant defrost for at least 5 days, we were told that the condenser would probably short out. Even though the fridge was 7 years new. We decided it would be cheaper in the long run to get a newer more energy efficient one, because we didn't know what other damage had been done and if fixing everything would just be too expensive and it could quit before everything was fixed.

Fan is a big issue. New problem though.

good day!first and foremost, in most freezers, the highest freezing point is 7.in regards with the water dripping from the air vent hole, you have to minimize your your freezing setting to the middle.turn it to 3 or 4 freezing point.
